That is a stage of the 31 flavors of ND and then there’s Sam, the zookeeper trying to herd cats

I’m definitely less afraid iii is going to fall off the stage again. I’m curious what they’ll be doing with a few tracks where there’s not much for them to do. Unless maybe they change up the sound a bit for live. It’ll be interesting. Maybe pay Vess back for the harassment.

Sleep token is a great gateway for a lot of folks to get into metal, which is a good thing.

“Well why do they go to metal venues then?!” BC they’re invited? Take it up with the folks in charge of the shows. That said, this gatekeeping metal thing is really immature and small minded and makes the community look terrible.

Pfft Bieber? wtf what track were you listening to? I’m imagining Bieber trying to sing Vore now haha
comment in response to post
Nah bc sleep token isn’t metal nor have they ever claimed to be.

Artists might include references in their music but it’s not a green light to dig further or share that information. Sometimes they include those things for themselves. Certainly Vessel made his thoughts on boundaries clear with Caramel.

I have it as well. It would be a good idea to move through this fandom assuming people don’t want to know this information. They wear masks and don’t use their real names so we try to respect that. They haven’t consented to personal info being shared w/the public so we draw that line for ourselves.

I know that feel, but congratulations!!! I promise it happens faster than you think it will once you’re up there. You’ll remember the waiting more.

Thanks for asking if I wanted that information before telling me. I try very hard not to mix their projects and to respect their anonymity. In a former life I was an English teacher so language is in my wheelhouse, too. Mostly I see folks taking things way too literally, especially w/Arcadia.

As for dressing up, a lot of bands do. Idk why it’s a crime for them in particular? The only other thing I can think of is a largely female fanbase and if that’s your issue it might be time to self reflect instead of going after a band bc girls like them. We haven’t learned since Gundam apparently.

Yeah it’s been building since about 2017 but it’s not a requirement it’s just fun. Same way they interact with fans. We get puzzles a lot and silly things like that. Being the next sensation doesn’t seem like it’s ever been the goal. Just doing what they love.

YouTube reactors have also put weird spins on what’s actually out there and because they’re visible they’re assumed to be right but they make up a lot of shit that isn’t real. Actual lore is kinda sparse and in the comic or at shows mostly. They often make shit up like Sleep being a woman etc.
comment in response to post
Fans don’t actually care about the lore that much. You don’t need to know it to enjoy the music. It’s just different and fun to be a part of and we like the guys in the band. Seem like good guys who had a passion project. Some of us can identify with that and enjoy supporting it.

They’ve been a thing for years. That said, I’d be fine with the fandom shrinking again after the hype. Fame isn’t their goal but they did sign with RCA. They’ve also never claimed to be metal so how well they fit that label is moot despite it coming up constantly. I’m just happy to hear them.
