Nice fine tension! That’s a lot of stitches to the inch but they’ll fit beautifully <3

Gay Bruiser is a corker of a name, even in 1950s sense of the word!

Do you know the old British expression about not sacking a disloyal team-member: that it’s better to keep them inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in? Elon is now outside the tent…

What’s that phrase about being outside the tent pissing in…???!

My late grandparents, and various unlate friends over the years who were genuine Conservatives *and* decent, compassionate people, would be/must be so horrified at what has happened to their party. I always thought they were wrong- but now anyone still voting Tory-ReformUK is morally empty…

It’s weird- I keep feeling scared of what Reform UK might do if they had more power, and then I remember the Rwanda scheme, and the PPE VIP contracts, and the No.10 parties during lockdown, and somehow it feels like actually they really are one party under two names…

Strangely I can’t recall this at all- can you?

I kept getting really good tickets for Marillion circa 1984-6 and then just before the gig I would suddenly decide they were pretentious so-and-sos and give away my ticket, only to realise I really wanted to have gone and eagerly get a ticket next time…! Think I did that three tours running…

That lavender is an absolute joy- so sharply-focused and so opulent- I can almost smell it…

I mean, it’s not that I think Trump and Vance are competent at running a govt, but just about everyone else is barely competent at breathing, pretty much.

How about another major infectious disease which kills off Putin but also Trump and Vance, leaving a cabinet of complete ignoramuses who literally couldn’t organise a student union disco, suddenly making world-level decisions… imagine Noem or Miller thrust into Acting Pres role?

You too? There’s a lot of it about- I heard earlier about a friend’s death a few weeks ago… obviously not that close a friend but still- gone, missed, remembered… Sympathies to you all x

Yes- four/six/eight-part stand-alone stories were definitely better than where we’ve got to… I had naïvely dreaded Tom Baker and Matt Smith, with no idea of the ghastly mess that is the Colin Baker seasons…!
comment in response to post
As he generally used to, originally? We’ve just reached Season 23, with the 18-month break in the Colin Baker years, in our Every Episode Ever, In Order watch-through (15 months and counting), and most of the first 22 seasons have no linking story-arc. I can only think of one previously, offhand…

Very lovely and gentle. Thankyou. I heard some sad news a while ago and I hadn’t realised it but what I really want is a beautiful garden to look at and enjoy.

I am amused and pleased to see that your surname is Hodsman… an archaic word for ‘snail’ in Britain is hodman, dodman, hodsman, dodsman, hodmandod, hodmedod… all kinds of variants but basically you are a wildlife-lover whose name means ‘snail’! How lovely… :)

C'mon the Grauniad - "Bridehead Devisited" was right there...

No, indeed- it was just the first one that came to mind.

Ahh… yes, of course. Thankyou.

Lots of them look at UK working conditions and pay, and instead take up jobs as doctors in Australia, for example, where they have much better pay and conditions- and all that sunshine too!

Can you explain why it’s your favourite? I’m curious to know just what raises it above her others for you.

The OED only has the term used to indicate blocked pores from 1837, in English, if that helps? :)
