I'm not defending the wider media. However I really do think our team has always covered the stories you refer to with the seriousness they deserve.

I'm always happy to explain things, I just didn't accept that we lied about something. We aren't reporting on this from a specific angle but there is massive public interest in a politician determining who can and can't perform at a festival, and free speech elements worth discussing in this

I'm not really engaging in the merit of it, since I'm not expressing an opinion, but I defend reporting on the FM interfering in who should and shouldn't be on a line-up based on media furore. You're picking a fight with the wrong person here

It's not possible to tell which member it is from the footage. Also I'm not even expressing an opinion on the story. You have interpreted it in a specific way, which I don't really think makes sense. I would argue it's up to Kneecap to explain the meaning behind their words now.

Just replying again to say that we haven't lied, the full quotes are in the article. It's straightforward reporting and it's really unfair to suggest our team is doing anything other than that.

It is not a lie. The full quote is "kill your local MP".

Everyone should put politics aside to stand against this attack. That is the attitude we all need to adopt if we have any chance of stopping the rise of the far-right.

I'm not sure yet, but Reform thrive on being seen as anti-establishment - and this gives them a tonne of space to make that point. At the same time, progressive parties need to take a stand against anti-migrant sentiment and find ways to tackle it. Very difficult ground to tread.

Unfortunately journalism is expensive to do. We are a small paper without some of the resources of the big titles. We need to run a subscription model. The more people support our work, the more people we reach - and hopefully make change in the media landscape.

Hi Carrie. The National has two trans columnists and we have given significant space to trans voices in our coverage of the GRR passing, its rejection and now this Supreme Court verdict. We don't plan to change that going forwards.

Our team will continue covering this story, including the latest developments like this - David Lammy reportedly assured Sa'ar that he would not be arrested on his secret trip to the UK www.thenational.scot/news/2510120...

Honestly, it beggars belief sometimes. It's equivalent to gaslighting. At one point today I was like God are we on the wrong track reporting this story, since nobody else is?

To the extent that the BBC reported in a story yesterday that foreign minister Gideon Saar was meeting someone in Israel, when he was actually in London. We asked them for a correction. They have not supplied one

The Labour Government clearly wanted to keep this meeting quiet. This is not remarkable. Governments should be transparent but usually aren't. Not shocking. What I don't get is why the entire UK media seems to be serving the government's interests in keeping this all quiet

A visit from a senior minister of a government accused of multiple war crimes would prompt significant media coverage in literally any other case. The media commentariat would be up in arms. Not today though. Mysterious.

Surely the foreign minister would be able to answer important questions about this incident? Surely it is significant that he is here now given this international news story? No? ... Just crickets? 🦗 Mental that everyone just forgot about that so quickly. Anyway.

There are a number of reasons why Israel's foreign minister visiting the UK and meeting David Lammy is VERY newsworthy. 1️⃣ Like two weeks ago, two Labour MPs were blocked from entering Israel. There have been no repercussions for this (at least publicly) ...
