To be clear: If there were to be large staffing reductions at NOAA and NWS—at appears is now indeed underway, with credible reports of larger further cuts on horizon—there will be people who die in extreme weather events & related disasters who would not have otherwise.

As a caregiver, protests are a no; I’m housebound. All my congressional representatives are democrats and I’ve already contacted them. Perhaps, the idea behind the economic boycott could be further developed. After all, “shut things down” is a listed option at Choose Democracy.

I think you made some good points, and I even questioned my choice to participate (I’m still in!). But my sense is that people are itching for a unified way to help save democracy and were willing to brush aside an imperfect message from the organizer.

The reasons I was given:
