I listened to the new episode of Fine Tooning, and just as I suspected, the original plot of Pixar's 'Elio' - before the director change - was "autobiographical" and about his struggles as a gay man. Disney execs mandated Pixar to "de-queer" it, much like 'Inside Out 2' and 'Win Or Lose'. Assholes.

Animation is not a monolith. You can still like/dislike animated movies that happen to be made for a younger audience. But it's so much better to focus on their individual strengths and weaknesses instead of generalizing all of them as either just being for kids or the pinnacle of entertainment.
