So with Joann’s closing and my refusal to step foot in a Hobby Lobby, I think we all need to get better at patronizing a brand’s website. Would I prefer to shop in person so I can touch yarn? Hell yes. But my next best option for acrylic will be ordering directly from Lion Brand or Big Twist’s site.

This is how you do it

After cancelling WaPo, I subscribed to Wired, and I encourage you to do the same! $10 for a year of digital access

If Jeff Bezos wants to charge people for his dipshit opinions, he should start a goddamn substack, not turn the Washington Post opinion page into his personal grievance rag. Anyway, I just cancelled my subscription.

The Washington Post and LA Times editorial pages have gone full MAGA, MSNBC has purged all of its anti-Trump anchors, and Twitter is owned by a literal Nazi. Here's why liberal media bias is still a problem.

The story of this era in American life is basically going to show that we’re a self-centered country of assholes who can’t do a damn thing until we *personally* step on the rake. At which point it’s too late.

very important topic that everyone will enjoy on today's podcast. fatedmates.net/episodes/202...

Last night I dreamed @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social new book about tuberculosis came with a hand-painted, Jumanji style board game and I think I know how to get rid of RFK Jr….

Wish I were one of Elon's kids so I'd never see him again

NOOOOOO! Look, I have two local yarn stores that I love, but sometimes you need cheap acrylic yarn to learn on and my Joann was recently remodeled and SO NICE!

I’m a person who, historically, is pretty immediately ready to fight or argue against bullshit the second it’s detected but over the past few years I’ve come to find asking “what exactly do you mean by that?” a few times in a row affords most enough rope with which to hang themselves.

I’ve been rewatching Gilmore Girls while I crochet and a) holy shit this show is so much more homophobic and fatphobic than I remember and b) Luke is an absolute shithead in the Martha’s Vineyard episode and Lorelei should have offloaded him immediately and made him swim back to Connecticut

Linda Holmes has a new book out on Tuesday. It is a romantic comedy, with podcasts and a really big dog. It is damn funny. It is sexy. It's also a lovely salute to the process of putting entertaining talk into our earbuds. I'm so envious of everyone who gets to read it for the first time. Preorder:

There was a nice sized protest outside our local Tesla dealership in Knoxville, TN. The Tesla Takedown is spreading!

If you attended college, your school may have required an updated MMR prior to attending. You can get your titers checks at your doctor’s office. It’s easy to add on as part of regular blood work! (I’m a 1982 baby but got an updated MMR for college and my titers were still good!)

how many controversial salutes are there. i can only think of the one but admittedly i'm not a salute scholar

I feel like @weratedogs.com would enjoy this photo of Poptart getting her first taste of cheesecake

Enjoy this photo of a dog discovering the existence of cheesecake as her father slices into a homemade one just out of reach

My 2025 bingo card is full and they’re still calling numbers left and right

I used to think it would be impossible not to shop at Target but then they showed their tender bellies to the fascist in a chief and I haven’t been in since

i think it is cool that de facto first consul of the united states is a drug-addled maniac and deadbeat dad with a breeding fetish

A man with the look and personality of a wet paper towel is running this country (into the ground) so I don’t ever want to hear another woman talk about imposter syndrome.

If you look at Elon Musk's wealth, he looks invincible. If you look at his cash position, he looks incredibly vulnerable. His empire looks like the Death Star, but Tesla stock is its thermal exhaust port. Use the force and let's torpedo that shit. www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-Im...

Okay, as you can see I’m getting better since those stitch mistakes on the bottom of the K and the wonky tension in the bottom. Trying to decide if I want to finish this for practice or start again now that I’ve got a better handle on tapestry crochet

I’ve been sort of maniacally creative since this administration took over. Playing music, crochet, writing even if it’s not for anyone to see. It’s the only thing keeping me from a violent outburst at this point. It’s the the thing that keeps my well of hope from running dry. I highly recommend it.

not getting on another plane unless they bring DEI all the way back. the captain has to open with a land AND air acknowledgement. every attendant gets an ASL interpreter. allowable emotional support animals now includes Blåhaj

Look we all deal with trauma in our own way

I loved this big-hearted, funny romance! Definitely add it to your TBR if you’re in the mood for something cozy and delightful

I have two books to write and the country is burning down around me so I should *definitely* teach myself to tapestry crochet (it’s not good, it’s my first time, I’m learning as I go)

Dying in a hideous plane crash because the world’s most racist and unlovable nerds couldn’t handle a 45 minute HR training.

Okay so maybe a 9 hour drive to Philly in March is actually fine…

Copy editors are aces at keeping track of where my main character’s purse is. They know that it’s been Thursday for three days now. They know that the singular of biceps is also biceps and also that the character speaking probably doesn’t know that based on how I’ve written them so it’s fine to stet
