Gonna continue to say that these pickets are so important right now. There are many reasons for this touched upon in the Waging Non-violence I shared a couple of times yesterday and even more. One of the most useful tactics right now.

Fresh off the overturning of Roe, Democratic leadership including Pelosi and the Clinton's flew to Texas to campaign for Cuellar, the lone vote against codifying Roe (who also happened to be under FBI investigation). He defeated Jessica Cisneros by 0.6%. Now he's voting with Trump 100% of the time.

Let's talk about fairies & enchanted rocks in Texas. Specifically, let's talk about the fairy shrimp ("Lone Star Sea Monkeys"!) that live in vernal pools at the top of Enchanted Rock near Fredericksburg, TX. We'll start with why Enchanted Rock is enchanted. (🧑‍🎨: Stan Fellows, www.stanfellows.com)

Doing the unthinkable: The deep cuts to the #CDC's workforce today are expected to decimate the Epidemic Intelligence Service, a program that has trained public health rapid responders for decades. Envy of the world. Poof! www.statnews.com/2025/02/14/t...

This is not a good combination of trending topics 😬

Elon Musk makes $8 million dollars PER DAY from the federal government and is getting more federal contracts. Meanwhile, he's planning to cut our hard-earned Medicaid, Social Security and Medicare benefits. www.newsweek.com/elon-musk-ma...

🧵"So this is how liberty dies..." Trump’s first 3 weeks have been a relentless flood of actions. It's incredibly hard to keep up. I’ve gone through 69 actions & mapped out the pattern - showing how they fall within 5 broad domains consistent with authoritarian states 1/9

Something you can do to stand against RFK jr’s attempt to make us all sicker is wear a mask when you share air with others. Resist mask bans. People who cannot afford to get sick have a right to exist in public. Masking will protect your health from him too.

We are fighting an administrative coup. The top question we keep getting asked is WHAT CAN I DO? The basic answer: resist every unjust, unfair, and unconstitutional policy at every level. We've organized a few simple actions on our website > choosedemocracy.us/what-can-i-do/

Always cuts for social programs. Never cuts for military spending.

Totalitarianism demands control and conformity. If you’re creating art, if you’re writing, you’re resisting. Make the weird, beautiful art, now more than ever.

Part of thriving under collapse has to be to mourn the life that you thought you'd be able to live. That will take a while. Most of us are not there yet.

Trump’s second coming can’t be understood without turning our gaze outward, toward a broader geography of U.S. state violence.

DC Democrats are in their home districts this weekend. They could be organizing 200 community "fireside chats" locally to tell their constituents what is happening in DC right now. But that would involve clear communication and they don't know how to do that.

Shutting off USAID payments is bad, but it's not just that: if someone (Trump, Musk, a lackey, whoever) can unilaterally shut off Congressionally-appropriated payments, they can shut off anything. Medicare payments to certain hospitals. Social Security checks to selected voters. Sky's the limit.

If, like me, you’re physically unable to participate in a protest, here’s a helpful doc courtesy of @prisonculture.bsky.social.

2025 will go down as the year when all the subtext became text

Educators! There are toolkits and tips in here for those that are seeking guidance on how to form teams to protect students! Check it out. Remember Black and Brown undocumented students deserve sanctuary in schools.

Fun one from today that nobody seems to be clocking amidst all the more substantive chaos. The White House comms department is now declaring that Trump can now "sign [an] executive order into law" without a bill passing Congress. Have never seen this language from a prior White House.

"When I am finally able to return to the ruins of what was my house, I will do so, not to weep, but to make a promise to rebuild it." Read 14-year-old Lujayn's powerful words from Gaza. They matter now more than ever.

Of course it’s a coup. Miss the obvious, lose your republic. open.substack.com/pub/snyder/p...

1. I keep saying this, but it’s important to try to slow things down. It’s something that the Democrats really don’t get. You can win a war by losing every battle slowly.

I almost argued with someone on here about their blame-dealing election takes. Almost. I have opinions about the election too. Strong ones. And you know what? It doesn’t fucking matter. Look around. Pointless division is a death trap. *That discourse* is a death trap. It’s collective survival time.

if you've ever bullied a cable company into lowering your bill i actually think this is your big moment!!! does your insurance company intend to withdraw coverage for trans minors?? will your school board be changing policies? your city council, your college, your employer, your library board--

"Sowing the seeds of chaos and accumulated despair is part of the president’s fascist agenda. We are afraid, and the imminent threat of violence forecloses our ability to imagine. And yet, as soon as we cede the territory of the imagination, we’ve already lost." Always read @eveewing.bsky.social:

Dear 🧪🔭⚛️: Stop calling the anti-DEIA executive orders, bans, work stoppages, research stoppages, and whatever else “rollbacks.” The executive orders are Resegregation Orders. These are attempts to return us to segregation.“ jmjafrx.substack.com/p/the-resegr...

All of this from @pastpunditry.bsky.social. The crisis is not *legible*. Even politically attentive people have no idea - the media are not conveying the scope and magnitude of what's happening. It has to be made legible through political and institutional resistance, not passivity and resignations.

I just called my House Rep and was told by his staff that he’s being briefed and I said we need to hear a clear plan from the democrats about how they’re going to protect our us and democracy from an unelected open Nazi who has access to the personal information of Jews and civil servants

Neither the mainstream press nor our political system seem to have digested the fact that the U.S. president is trying to illegally annex a NATO ally using economic coercion.

Here are the options on the table (which are not mutually exclusive): 1. House Dems bring articles of impeachment* 2. Senate Dems play constitutional hardball and obstruct everything 3. State AGs litigate (and prosecute) everything they can 4. Citizens march en mass

My story about community, resistance, and change is free to read in @morningtransport.bsky.social today! "Written on the Subway Walls" is a story I've been wanting to write for years. I hope it's both a balm for you, and a seed of hope. www.sundaymorningtransport.com/p/written-on...

Destabilization of reality in the US is about to reach surreal heights. Protect your mind. Monitor stress levels. Do not doomscroll--it does not help. Be selective about when and how long you expose your brain to this. Do what you can when you can.

Unelected agents of a oligarch have seized core services of the state without legal sanction or authorization; yes, that's a coup

The Trump administration is scrubbing the CDC’s website of documents on reproductive rights issues, sexual health, intimate partner violence, and more. I'm trying to save them. You can find the deleted docs at cdcguidelines.com - I'll be adding more over the weekend.

I cannot stress enough how FEW people actually took any action at all to fight back with others against any injustices in the past. Reading history helps. It's ALWAYS the minority of the minority. It's really really important to know this because this IS the reality of struggle.

Seems about time for a general strike.

In light of Trump II’s predictably cruel and bonkers beginning, many people are asking: “What can I do now?” Here are 10 recommendations from @rbreich.bsky.social: www.commondreams.org/opinion/10-w...

For those looking to include protections for immigrant workers in their collective bargaining agreements, @nataschaelena.bsky.social and @sarahlazare.bsky.social put together important provisions from unions + labor activists: labornotes.org/blogs/2025/0... collab w/ @workdaymagazine.bsky.social

I wrote about Trump's executive orders, including his attacks on trans and undocumented people, and how we should be orienting ourselves to defy fascist violence in this moment. This piece includes commentary from @chasestrangio.bsky.social and @silkys13.bsky.social.

Amidst the political horrors and personal challenges (🤢) of this moment, I am grateful for my kiddos who remind me of the future we can build together 🏳️‍🌈
