"that's why they pay me the big bucks! 😀"

Tell that to Ticketmaster. Yes, that was an intentional reference.

Another day another accidentally over branded outfit. This time a cozy Friday addition 😅

The infrastructure of the Internet would run longer without electricity than without trans folks tbh

Correct. If the birthdate field contains corrupt or mismatched data, it defaults to 1875-05-20, which serves as a flag. May 20, 1875, is the day the international standards and metrics treaty was signed. Everything is a conspiracy when you don’t know how anything works.

New from 404 Media: anyone can push updates to the Doge.gov site. Two sources independently found the issue, one made their own decision to deface the site. "THESE 'EXPERTS' LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN." www.404media.co/anyone-can-p...

Looked at some code today and found some repetitive pieces that made it easy for similar behavior to be out of sync. Decided to draw the map of current state. I swear I just drew a maze. Fuck. This was not on my list of tasks to tackle 🫠

@laurieontech.dev I'm searching for people who love STEM and Lego to share my Lego Ideas Periodic Table submission. I hope you like it and VOTE for it to become an official Lego product Please consider sharing Vote at the link: ideas.lego.com/s/p:7ea5c858...

Ironically, by trying to suppress “woke”, this is showing how difficult content moderation is and why it needs real humans beyond just automation.

I hate meeting action items as much as the next person. But I also hate leaving an hour long meeting not entirely sure what to expect, when, and from whom.

Fun fact, these aren’t “interns” as most folks think of them. This is one of many NSA new grad rotational programs. Gotta be fun figuring out what’s a false positive in a domain you’ve only been supporting for 6 months max 🫠

Working in EST is such a double edged sword experience. I do not know how anyone gets anything done without those super uninterrupted morning hours. I hate being blocked by support that isn’t awake yet 😅

Just saw two posts about the score bug for the game. One was a rave. The other loathed it. Sounds about design 🫠

As per usual, I’m only here for the snacks.

Wired is doing great reporting. But it’s also really refreshing to read news that understands technology and uses those details even if not every reader will be familiar.

SCOOP: A US Treasury threat intelligence analysis has designated DOGE staff an ‘insider threat'. An internal email reviewed by WIRED calls DOGE staff's access to federal payments systems “the single biggest insider threat risk the Bureau of the Fiscal Service has ever faced.”

Copilot is absolutely failing at writing simple test cases atm. Like, shockingly incorrect.

Wait, the DOGE dude explicitly named in the judge’s order is the one that had to resign? So now it’s not one guy…I wonder how bad a state it’s in and what the career folks might be able to salvage.

Last week I asked ChatGPT for something simple instead of Googling for the docs cause reasons. The incoherent (but working) insecure BS it spit out should never make its way into any prod system of any real life system ever. But sure, this is gonna go really well.

their motto? "how hard could it possibly be?" and every experienced systems engineer in the room is now cackling. if only it were actually funny though rather than a deadly serious matter.

Turns out if you control official email addresses and other official communications you might as well be CEO. We’re being shown in realtime just how much technology has massively changed human interactions and expectations.

The thing about historical comparisons is that technology has changed so rapidly. What does that mean? It means that large actions can be taken quickly without anyone having to physically see anything that might make them question what’s happening. It’s gonna look different this time.

The informed people feel hysterical talking about this stuff. That’s what’s horrifying. People dismiss what you say cause it sounds absurd…it IS absurd.

ffs THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT PRIVACY one wrong button push and the US economy becomes a very hot plasma ball. whether it be via social security payments not going out, medicare not going out, or a US sovereign debt default.
