Great piece on the meteoric success of the Elizabeth line. It shows that investing in new public transport doesn't just create new travel options, but new jobs and homes too. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Bristol post is in its "chitti chitkaalu" era and I hate it! 😑😑

Ah so that’s what’s up

You're still going to tell me they aren't coordinating across borders? This is a global fascist coup not just an American one.

“the United States is not a startup. The federal government exists to do all of the things that are definitionally not profitable, that serve the public good rather than protect investor profits. (The vast majority of startups also fail, something the United States cannot afford to do.)”

The biggest takeaway from the obvious decline of the West is that Capitalism needs slave labor and cheap resources to always growing, two commodities that've become scarce in the past decades. With nowhere to extract from, the implosion is imminent.

HSBC net zero goal delayed 20 years, as CEO offered 600% bonus. Bankers already live on another planet and are willing to let the earth burn to fuel their lust for profits. Shareholders don't care, customers have no representation on boards, regulators and govts let them wreak havoc.

What could possibly go wrong. t.co/se9BwENDAr

The US & UK has managed to lose the Cold War, 35 years after everyone thought they’d won it, because they didn’t realise it was still on, & now don’t even realise they’ve lost it. All in the space of 13 years, because Russia worked out social media first. Incredible stuff

It’s great to see so much more media attention on the hard right anti gender ideologues at ARC if surreal when you’ve been tracking these networks for a long time… www.opendemocracy.net/en/us-anti-a... @opendemocracy.net

bollywood : time to make some fuckall vfx movie about BASED hindus and CURSED mughals

Indian Parents: Just focus on the STEM subjects, you must grow up to be an engineer or doctor Kids in History Class: 🥱😴💤 These kids, now adults in 2020s: Why don't they teach this to kids in school? BJP: *removes more sections from history curriculum* Bhakts: Now my kid will learn real history

Modi shook hands with Trump while Indians were being deported like this. Our media will never show this to people. India is completely fucked.

CPI a bit above expectations but services inflation, a reasonable proxy for domestic price pressures, came in lower than expected. Not clear that changing course on interest rates because of VAT on private schools and slower than expected falls in airfares is sensible.

As much as I love owls, I have to go with the black hawks on this one.

I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir here, but if even if you're not an artist, that goofy meme idea in your head will be a thousand times funnier if you just do a crappy drawing of it yourself vs using generative A.I.

Tired of Superman stories, period.

At this point, are we even surprised by such appointments?

In my city there is one cybertruck and one DIY parody of a cybertruck and the parody truck has become a local celebrity. Meanwhile, I always wish I had some rotten eggs to throw at the tesla whenever I see it.

💥 Well how about that. After years of Brexiteers saying we had to leave the EU to avoid being forced into a European army… … it turns out that Brits are fine with the idea. With the UK explicitly included. A plurality of Tory voters support it - and even a fair chunk of Reform. How times change…

Nigel Farage wants to get rid of the NHS and replace it with US Health Insurance which would be 4x more expensive and worse in every way. Except for the £600bn a year profit for him and his mates.

Removing cars from shopping streets is working in Ireland by improving the retail experience. Just like on Princess Victoria Street and Cotham Hill in Bristol. We need more of these schemes.

Meeting note-taking / summaries is regularly cited as one of the 'good' use cases for generative AI, and I think part of the reason is that it is probably never getting thoroughly checked (unlike, for eg, newsmedia summaries) Probably millions of timebomb disasters being created constantly here

No but it’ll never not be funny that all that American bravado about the second amendment and you still get dog walked daily by a drug addled serial philanderer and his pet rapist.

Hi @anitaanand.bsky.social, any idea what that picture representing England in this Urdu map could be?
