The point of Pride is to make being openly queer acceptable. It never mattered if corporations "really cared" about Pride. Rainbow capitalism was a sign of progress in acceptability. The end of rainbow capitalism is a dead canary in a coal mine.

Ben of Ben & Jerry’s *arrested* after confronting RFK Jr. & Congress: "They need to let food into Gaza. They need to let food to starving kids! Congress is paying to bomb poor kids in Gaza, and paying for it by kicking poor kids off Medicaid in the US!"

When Trump was told that store shelves would be emptied by his disastrous tariffs, Trump didn't think of food and other necessities. He said kids would just have fewer toys. Has anybody compared this to the apocryphal story of Marie Antoinette being told there is no bread, "Then let them eat cake"?

Starting to consider if post-modernism may have evaporated and now there is a movement to re-modernism. Political discourse from every angle exhibits people who habitually frame issues as if they are fragments of a greater oppositional struggle. Eg: colonial fascism vs anti-fascist progressivism.

The number one issue of the Democratic Party is that there is not a defined core set of values to unite them. I could tell someone what Democrats stand against, but I couldn't tell someone what Democrats stand for. Deciding what they stand for is more important than the poll-testing they do now.

Bluesky is a place where you can follow your favorite leftist creatives as they criticize Democrats for terrible messaging only to then turn around and snap at their own fan-base for giving the slightest push-back on their own terrible messaging.

Something too few people understand about the economy is that the wealthy have no reason to want to avoid a recession. Sure, their assets lose value in recessions, but so do everybody else's properties. It's a buyer's market. "Buy low, sell high" doesn't only apply to stocks.

We've reached the point in our descent into fascism where the Jewish governor's house getting firebombed on Passover by a guy trying to bash his head in with a sledgehammer is overshadowed by the story of the President saying he wants to build foreign gulags for US citizens.

How are we liking America's bold new market strategy of building an economy entirely on pump and dump schemes?

211 dead journalists in Gaza These are my colleagues, my comrades in storytelling, the very best of our profession being burned alive in front of the whole fucking world My heart can’t fucking take it

A stock market crash is terrible for most of us because with it crashes any retirement savings we managed to muster. But don't make the mistake of assuming that this is bad news for big business. To the wealthy this is just buying season, when everything is cheap, easy pickings. They always profit.

The Netanyahu government has killed 50,000 people in Gaza & wounded 112,000. Two weeks ago, they broke the ceasefire and have since killed 322 children & wounded 600. The US must end its complicity. Tomorrow, I will force votes to block $8.8 billion in arm sales to Netanyahu.

If you should ever find yourself on a jury, you should know that you are not ultimately deciding on if the accused did what they were accused of, but rather if what you believe they did deserves punishment. If you believe what they did was right, then they are not guilty.

I had already been saying for years that US law enforcement models themselves after ambush predators and now we have plain-clothed Homeland security officers snatching legal residents off the streets using the same tactics as human traffickers.

NEW: Tufts graduate student Rumeysa Ozturk had already been transferred out of state before a federal judge ordered that she not be removed from Massachusetts, federal officials told the court today www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/27/m...

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

actually the number of people who care about the nonpartisan defense of free speech is exactly the same as it was

Netanyahu has not allowed any food, water, or fuel into Gaza in two weeks. Now he has resumed bombing, killing hundreds of people and breaking the ceasefire that had given Gaza a chance to live again. NO MORE MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL.

Four boys age 13 to 15 murdered in one strike. During a ceasefire. While all aid is halted. Horrific and ongoing.

Absolute 🔥🔥 from Sarah McBride: "We will not take a lecture on decorum from a party that incited an insurrection. I appear to live rent free in the minds of some of my Republican colleagues. The Republican Party is obsessed with culture war issues. It is weird and it is bizarre.”

"did you make that logo signifying Europe's grim duty to rearm in the face of a hostile United States and expanding Russia?" "Sure did boss, made it real goatse just like you asked,"

To be an effective protest, it has to disrupt the everyday lives of people. Otherwise it is just being loud outside.

Every elected Democrat needs to have "a law that is not enforced is no longer a law" tattooed on their forehead

It is alarming how consistently I hear from older people that there is no way their Social Security can be taken from them because it is their own money being given back to them. If that was true, first recipient Ida May Fuller would have only received the $24.75 she paid and not $22,888.92 total.

A classic example of how Google's AI is garbage, it doesn't understand that the Underground Railroad wasn't a literal railroad

Anybody who says the government should be run more like a business is somebody who has no idea how businesses are run. This includes anybody who also runs businesses.

As someone with over 500 hours in Monster Hunter World and who still sucks at it, I don't think the people who wrote the definitive guides on how to play all 14 weapons will be the best judges of how easy Wilds will be for the average player.

In a Reddit post questioning how a cult leader was able to set up a cult twice after killing so many people the first time, a user brought up "Good Tsar, bad Boyars". I read the summary on Wikipedia and immediately thought of Trump and Musk operating under the guise of countering bureaucrats.
