Maybe for game show's sake. It could be a "Fear and Hunger's Castle" mode. Where it's less "Battle Royale", more "Takashi's Castle", stirred with a black humour parody of "Squid Game" here. And the possibility/chance of 'multiple winners', contest against Le'garde 'contest wipe' wise.
