14pt is unconventional enough, 16pt feels like heresy! I havent bought too many recently released books so I can’t speak as to that trend. (My backlog is also impressive 😅).
Sounds like an odd way to pad the length of a book… there may be enough people who are more comfortable with larger font? Idk

As another person said, it is always good to ask illustrators. Many would be thrilled for any sort of promotion.
There may be some images in public domain, but its hard to find things that havent been “used to death” and may feel a bit generic.

He comes closest to a martial pacifist, but he really has no qualms about killing. Just not senseless “just because.” He will retaliate, and hunt for meat, but be doesn’t seek out violence. (Unless he deems it necessary where Mara, his student, is concerned)
