That is funny--I can relate to that feeling. I guess there really aren't that many people have the conversations we are all having, or tying to have, so it's nice to have them in real life. Anna K is one of the most open, engaging people anyone will ever meet.

My last prediction (circa 2015; never materialized) was the Ivy league profs would abandon "surface reading" for "adjunct reading." Adjunct = next to and near, but not exactly identical; a ghost figure, a kind of textual impossibility. Still could happen, I guess.
