And PLEASE VOTE. Last time, Ford got a majority based on votes from only 18% of the electorate.

It's #VotingDay in #Ontario If Ontario is your home - please prioritise the future of #education and #healthcare when making your decision today. This government has been a catastrophe for our province and they do not deserve your vote. thelocal.to/ontario-post... thelocal.to/hallway-heal...

This video is an essential service.

I'm very concerned about how quickly passports have been weaponized against transgender people. Imo this is just as dangerous as having 'jew' stamped on identity papers.

Just updated my computer and microsoft wants permission to access my location? (Apparently for gps and wifi). Why would microsoft need this info for me to run teams? Does wifi need the device location to work? #microsoft

Crazy that the passports changing people's genders is happening so quickly. Important point: looking one gender and having a different one on a passport can cause concerns for that person's safety when traveling to many countries. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Major reporting here. @propublica.org found a 50% rise in sepsis cases and an increase in deaths among pregnant women after Texas's abortion ban.

Diversity is our greatest asset, even if the government disagrees… They not like us! POC in STEM are here to stay. They tried to rig the game but you can’t fake influence! Mustard on the [Be][At] bro. Happy Black History Month!

Absolutely insane that a plane flipped over at Toronto's Pearson airport. My SO was driving past around that time and says that there was a pretty bad patch of weather. But there's bad weather and there's weather that can flip an 80 person plane...

Happy International day of women and girls in STEM! Diversity continues to be a strength, and women and girls make great scientists! #EveryVoiceInScience

I stand with the trans community. Pass it along.

CHASE Lab is red for women’s heart health today! Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, and symptoms present differently among women than men. Our team wants to help women stay active and protect their heart health. Learn more with Go Red For Women ❤️♥️❤️‍🩹 www.goredforwomen.org

This is probably a good opportunity to remind people that the belonging of Scandinavians, Italians, Greeks, Slavs, and certain Germans to "whiteness" was contingent on a certain political order, and as that political order crumbles, those privileges exist at the pleasure of some dork ass losers

I'm looking for more voices of women of color academics who've navigated academia while pregnant you can remain anonymous—DM or email me: apandrzejewski AT wm DOT edu here are other reported pieces where I quote academics of color. I take good care of my sources: www.chronicle.com/author/alici...

Finally deactivated my twitter. There were some great times there but probably past due.

we really need to make sure that Doug Ford doesn't get to do his little acts of rebellion against trump under the shadow of an unnecessary election that HE called and then get off in any way scott free for the bullshit he's put our province through. don't let him off that hook. tell your friends.

These people know perfectly well that even in the case of so-called "diversity hires", the foundation of "equally qualified" has to be present. They just don't want QUALIFIED people of color to be able to get the jobs for which they trained.

okay but seriously y'all, what are we gonna do when ontario votes doug ford in again. do we petition? riot? march in the streets? i personally plan to show up at his house in costume and appear in his nightmares as the ghost of greenbelt past

Did an EDI in engineering presentation today and used the US as an example of somewhere it's not safe to be gay.... (Usually I talk about countries that international students often come from where it's illegal but here we are...)

I spoke to a talented junior scientist who just got a good faculty job offer in the US and they told me “well I wouldn’t move to 1930s Germany either” so that’s how that’s going

I want the type of capitalism where we use every part of a product to recoup cost (like making tomato sauce out of the less perfect tomatoes)... not whatever this is.

Back in the day I started a masters in Mech eng (after a chem eng undergrad). I enjoyed my degree but it felt like every week someone I felt was just a colleague would ask me out on a date. A small innocuous thing but frustrating to have happen so often and it definitely affected my learning. 1/

Of course ending birthright citizenship is blatantly unconstitutional. So is a third term in office. But I thought the same thing about presidential criminal immunity and holding office after inciting an insurrection. The obvious is not so obvious anymore.

Every day there's a new moment where I ask myself what the actual f*** is this. Every day. And I'm not even american.

I'm not sure why I'm loving the rideau canal being open so much; it's nice having active transit options but it's also nixe only having to wait for one bus (for better or worse). #activetransit #octranspo #rideaucanal

this confirms something i have long suspected, which is that certain people are told that their professional and academic failures are because of “affirmative action” or “DEI” as a way to avoid difficult conversations about their mediocrity www.wsj.com/lifestyle/ca...

The realist shit my mom ever said was "When we avoid difficult conversations, we trade short term discomfort for long term dysfunction & I think everyone needs to hear that.

It's wild that you just write papers and send them out into the world then some random day you just get notified that someone else decided to cite you... #academia #gradschool

I fear there is deep truth here.

Hello US academics! In my part of Canada (Ontario), there are a bunch of scholarship applications that need reference letters in Oct/Nov. Is this the same case in the US?
