I’ve seen a few people asking about comp titles! I have a blog post that can hopefully help: www.madheditorial.com/blog/comp-ti... #RevPit #writingcommunity #amquerying

Closing out my "official" #MeetTheEditor session/thread for #RevPit! You can still "@" me with questions, but I can't guarantee I'll answer them in a timely manner. Thanks again to everyone who dropped in! Please make sure to check out the other sessions this week, and best wishes on submitting!

For me, high fantasy is stories with intricate levels of political intrigue that span across several households/POVs (“Game of Thrones” style). With low fantasy, those elements are present in the story but aren’t the main focus of it. Hope this helps!

I'd consider that to be speculative, so it would fall under my MSWL. Whether we're a good fit, or if another #RevPit editor might be a better fit, will depend on your judgment. 😊
Best wishes on submitting! #MeetTheEditor

2) I ask the author about specific areas they think I should focus on during the edit. So while I'm editing and finding areas of strength and areas that could be improved, I also give feedback on those specific areas of interest/focus.
Hope this helps!

Great question! Usually 2 ways:
1) I give my initial impressions of the direction of the story, the MC and their development to the author to see if I have a good big pic view of the story that aligns with the author's.

You're welcome! This #RevPit I'm not open to women's fiction, so another editor would be a better fit. Best wishes with submitting! #MeetTheEditor

You're welcome! I don't think you need to specify which ones. Just mentioning there is interest should be enough!
And thanks! Always happy to meet a JJK fan 💕

Thanks for dropping by! Sounds interesting. I personally don't like dialogue-heavy stories, so another #RevPit editor might be a better fit. Hope this helps! #MeetTheEditor

in this case, check out other #RevPit #MeetTheEditor sessions to review their editing styles, interests, responses to questions. If you like what they have to say and trust them but they don't necessarily check all the boxes, you might want to take a chance on them anyways. Hope this helps!

That's a tough question. Personally, I'd say no, I wouldn't always go with an editor who ticks all the boxes. That would be a way to narrow the selection down, and depending on how many choices are left, I'd say go with your gut. Do as much research as possible to make an informed choice--

Hi! For me, it depends on the MS. I don't personally like prologues, but that doesn't mean as an editor I'll immediately suggest removing a prologue and merging it with the opening chapter. Hope this helps! #RevPit #MeetTheEditor

Hi Martha, thanks for dropping by! I like reading speculative romance occasionally. I enjoyed reading Bitter Medicine and more recently "Another Girl Under the Iron Bell” (though it's a short story). Hope this helps! #RevPit #MeetTheEditor

For #RevPit #MeetTheEditor, just drop your question as a reply to my main thread before 8 PM ET, and I’ll respond when I’m able! After that time I can’t guarantee I’ll respond in a timely manner.

1) Haven’t read any romcoms lately… romance-wise, I enjoyed “Another Girl Under the Iron Bell” (short story) and Yakuza Fiancé: Raise wa Tanin ga Ii (manga/anime)
2) I wouldn’t say that’s a deciding factor on whether an MS is hard to sell or not.
Hope this helps!

Hi Maggie, thanks for dropping by! I’m not a big fan of contemporary romances with a government backdrop if that makes sense. I’m also probably not the best #RevPit editor for romance in more rural settings. Hope this helps!
