I just hit send on my textbook manuscript and all its assorted spare parts. It's out of my hands now until the copyedits come back. Now I turn to the ancillaries.

Self-Care Saturday! Time for a food scavenger hunt. Take yourself to the store with the list at buff.ly/WtfWRsw . Find products made in as many countries as you can! Challenge yourself to buy & consume one item from a country you've never heard of or tried before. Share your maps!

This, friends, is the reward of someone who finished her substantive edits. A large chocolate peanut butter milkshake. With whipped cream. Only a few technical tweaks to deal with tomorrow (formatting, file names for figures, etc.) Time for a rest.

5 Minute Friday! What's one small thing Today You can do to make Monday You's life easier? No ideas? Reply to 2 email, wash your office mug/water bottle, or make notes on one thing you read this week in your bibliography software.

I have intervened by replacing the cookies with more accessible grapes in hopes of stemming the sugar tide. Story to be continued...

I am finishing the edits on this last chapter (appendix really) today if it kills me. How many cookies will it take to get there? < 10? 11-20? 20? Cast your vote here. I'll randomize people in the correct bin and send a copy of the book to the winner when it releases.

This week in the Syllabus Workshop we're discussing assessment options and aligning them with our course learning outcomes. Take a quick look at one of your syllabi. Do the things you're assessing students on connect DIRECTLY to your CLOs?

We can't give 100% every day. We simply don't have the physical or mental capacity. Doing that leads to burnout. Today, give it your SOME. Not your ALL, just your SOME. You'll thank yourself tomorrow.

There are only so many ways to describe a histogram in 250 characters of alt-text.

Come hell or high water or armed insurrection, this book is going in to the publisher by Monday. LMK if you want the exam copy. VERY usable outside poli sci and US context. 1e look inside: a.co/d/aqyDP7o

I broke down and got myself a 'TushGuard' memory foam butt pillow for my office chair. As with so many things, WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG!??! I spend 30 hrs a week in this chair, and more if I work the weekend. I still don't feel comfortable spending $ on "optional" comfort items.

Monday Giggle!

Sunday Planning Time! Synch your calendars and check your meal plan. What house tasks are overdue? When was the last time you washed your sheets or towels? Toss a bonus load in this weekend if you can.

Update on the unhinged biography items for students in my book: I have precisely the optimal number of beagles (2). I have never lost at shuffleboard, perhaps because I have never played. I can crochet and read simultaneously. (1/2)

Self-Care Saturday! Weather permitting, go for a walk this weekend. Use an indoor mall or large campus building if necessary. Set a step or distance target for yourself and use your phone to see if you got there!

And chocolate. Gifts of chocolate and cake are definitely also accepted.

I am about to try to merge the edits from my index helper and my own changes from the last few weeks. Send thoughts, prayers, well-wishes, and plenty of alcohol. (Someone should probably check on me every 12-24 hrs; this isn't going to be pretty.)

It's 5 Minute Friday! What's one small task Today You can do to make Monday You's life easier? No ideas? Clear the loose paper off your desk, reshelve your books, or update your project pipeline/status list. We'd love to see how you track your projects - white board? Gantt chart? Something else?

I have been so overwhelmed with these book revisions that I FORGOT that I've already made most of the edits to the last remaining bit. ::facepalm::

In the Syllabus Workshop this week, we're checking the alignment of our assessments with our course learning outcomes. When was the last time you consciously evaluated the match between your paper assignments, exams, and learning objectives? Perhaps spend a few minutes on that today?

Hello #polisky please help us spread far & wide: Given the *incredibly* high demand on APSA's research grant programs, we changed eligibility requirements to prioritize individuals who (1) are less likely to have access to research funds & (2) have not recently received funds from APSA

I'm writing my student facing bio for my research methods textbook. Give me an unhinged statement that you think should appear in it. Ex: She has never lost at shuffleboard, perhaps because she has never played.

Some unpleasantness is a necessary part of life. Some is not. Choose carefully the non-essential unpleasantness you make part of your life.

A bag of HEB fresh tortillas fell out of my freezer today. I'm taking that as a sign that I should eat them. We are, after all, having fish tacos tonight. I never thought I'd miss a grocery store.

No one reads your lit review to find out what others have said. They're reading it to find out what YOU have to say & how that fits into an ongoing scholarly conversation. Lots of sentences starting" Author (YYY)" says you're too focused on what others say & not relevance to you.

My clients this morning are being treated to stereophonic beagle snoring. Apparently, it's "quite soothing."

Monday Giggle!

Sunday Planning Time! Synch your calendars & check your meal plan. Is there a day this week you can delegate dinner, either to another family member, an outside party, or even to yourself on another day by cooking for leftovers or reusable base ingredients?
