LAPD Chief McDonnell said the people who are protesting against the immigration raids are not the same people who have been engaging in violence. The violence is being carried out by “people who do this all the time."

Keep protesting. Don’t light cars on fire. Distracts from a situation in which Trump looks bad for over the top raids that spurred the crisis and his obvious exploiting of the crisis he started. Really nothing is more counterproductive. Just throwing him a lifeline.

Using this to break ACAB down for anyone who still doesn’t understand. Let’s agree the shooter is a bastard. The others should have prevented him from firing, and after he fired he should have immediately been taken out. He felt comfortable enough to fire because he knows he will get away with it.

It’s not just that it’s clearly intentional, it’s that it’s clearly intentional knowing that he’s being recorded. They know they can do whatever they want with complete impunity.

Looks like the agencies shooting pepper balls and pepper spraying are mostly ICE and Federal Protective Service, California National Guard seems to be standing around holding their shields

The city of Glendale, in Los Angeles County, announced today that they're quitting an agreement with ICE thad allowed ICE to house its detainees at the Glendale police department. mynewsla.com/crime/2025/0...

For comparison, the same number of people live in Wyoming, Montana, Alaska, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Delaware, Rhode Island, Hawaii, and both Dakotas COMBINED. Those states make up almost a quarter of the Senate. Los Angeles is underrepresented in the government now attacking them.

One in 35 Americans live in Los Angeles County. Los Angeles is America.

Four LAPD officers on horseback surround a man laying on the ground, trample him, and beat him with their polycarbonate "saber" batons.

Will the mainstream media stand in solidarity with reporters being brutalized by Trump's goons or will they push "violent protests and blue city anarchy!" stories? I think it will be telling!

she’s like 15 feet away. absolutely that man’s whole thought process was: “I’m gonna shoot that woman”

ICE has not had a Senate-confirmed director since Obama was president. The whole thing is rotten from the bottom to the top.

It isn’t just that a journalist was shot. It was that she was shot in the back, at close range, by someone intending to do just that.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

How long until Trump declares that protestors in California have weapons of mass destruction?

We must engage in mass civil resistance. We must organize campaigns of non-cooperation. Both are much more powerful if they maintain nonviolent discipline.

Just watching the federalized Trump military tear gas a peaceful demonstration in LA and wondering when the media will remember Trump's failure to call out the National Guard to protect the US Capitol from a violent crowd trying to overthrow the US government and assaulting the Capitol police.

What I think really hurt liberals and their causes was billionaires buying both mainstream news outlets and social media networks and turning them all to conservative echo chambers.

No it is not the job of Border Patrol to break up public protests.

HAPPENING NOW: Aerial coverage of protesters marching peacefully in LA to protest ongoing ICE raid operations and Trump’s federalization of the National Guard Reporter: “What we’re looking at right now is a quiet, organized group and demonstrators marching peacefully to their destination.”

That grant of almost total immunity to the president could be doing some big work soon.

People should be able to testify about unconstitutional state action without having to worry that their testimony will provoke more unconstitutional state action. theintercept.com/2025/06/07/i...

The scary thing in US politics right now is that there's a contingent of people who have given themselves permission to indulge in their inner emotional desire for cathartic violence against groups they dislike. They cannot be dissuaded from this because the permission structure is a closed loop

it's really funny that any news anchor in america can say that biden was mentally incompetent but you can't say trump is mean without getting in big trouble

"The U.S. has redirected 20,000 missiles equipped with the APKWS laser guidance system — initially intended for Ukraine — to U.S. Air Force units in the Middle East. Ukrainian President Zelenskyy confirmed the decision in an interview with ABC News." @militarnyi.com militarnyi.com/en/news/u-s-...

Tribal colleges are important for reasons reported here: providing "higher education rooted in [Native] language, culture and community.” And they provide opportunities for rural people, Native and non-Native alike, in nursing, early childhood development, counseling, trades, etc.

Seeing lots of discussion about whether the U.S. military will go along or push back against orders to confront mass protests. Here’s my take on what other cases and prior research tell us about what might happen. 1/

In a just world this guy would already be fired and facing charges for creating a grotesquely unfit process guaranteed to create irreparable harm and unrecoverable costs for taxpayers Nobody ethical would have taken this assignment in the first place

Earlier this evening, the Univision crew grabbed their gear and started running when federal police began shooting pepper balls at us. @lataco.bsky.social

Tear-gassing an unarmed, unmasked woman holding a US flag

God bless and keep safe this woman.

Remember this iconic photo from Ferguson? This is Edward Crawford, throwing back a tear gas canister to protect some nearby kids. Like many identified Ferguson protesters and organizers, he was "found dead" a couple years later and neither the cops nor the media will ever investigate.

It's worth recalling, at this moment, how Trump spoke admiringly of China's Tiananmen Square crackdown. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/a...

Incredible to me that people can’t make the ver my simple connection: Trump president = domestic unrest

I believe, unequivocally, that what the White House is doing is illegal, immoral, and a betrayal of the most basic principles of democracy. I believe if they continue on their current path they will shatter the republic. I don’t know what or how else to say it.

ICE is going to elementary school graduation ceremonies to abduct people. You don't get lower than that. It not only destroys the day for the families in question, it destroys the experience for all the other people and terrorizes the children.

There is no bigger story right now than the White House asserting that California residents are in a state "of rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States."

BBC is the only one covering the Los Angeles protests right now as Fox, CNN and MSNBC ignore it.

Good question, but I think we all know the answer.

Reminder that this country had an insurrection on Jan 6 and Trump refused to send in the National Guard.
