#booksky, I'm an indie author looking for more followers. I'm looking to get to 1000 by the end of March. I post about my writing and what I am reading. Can you help? It will be get to 800 by end of weekend #writer

The thing about AI is that I don't think it can be any smarter than the idiots creating it. And that, like them, it to will want to be rich and rule the world probably. Like father like son.

When I teach creative writing this is the nickname students call me behind my back.

Simultaneously some of Ferrante's best and worst writing. Great moments, laughable moments.

Wow 100 new followers today. Here's a treat: A punk poem w/ music from my anti-Trump _Fake Novel_. Enjoy! Get angry! Pogo on a Nazi!

Russian intelligence decided that the best way to destroy the USA was to put republicans in charge. It seems to be working.

I don't understand why anyone would use AI for anything. All of the satisfaction in my life comes from writing and writing things well--but I'm not a capitalist and couldn't give a shit about efficiency or firing the people who slave for me.

A follow up to _Simplicissimus_. Pretty great!

If one is against diversity, equity, and inclusion one is for uniformity, double standards, and exclusion. Sounds like they think injustice is ok. As usual every conservative stance is just opportunism, a lack of ideology masquerading as an ideology.

Greek mythology makes sense to me. You know, when the gods are fighting among themselves and human beings get caught in the crossfire. But the Bible... The one god endlessly fighting with himself and its creations just strikes me as silly.

Those who uphold the rule of law save their country.

I believe I remain relatively indifferent to nature and prefer urbanity because I feel and fear the great a-morality of nature. Only among humans do I feel the safety of empathy and awareness, of thought rather than blind instinct.

This prosthetic eye made from a mixture of natural tar & animal fat is nearly 5,000 years old. It was found near the city of Zabol in Iran in 2006. Archaeologists believe that the prosthetic eye, which was once painted gold, was worn by an ancient priestess who stood 6’ tall.

Ortese's weakest novel, I think--a disappointment to me.

Never having worked in corporate/cubicle America I have no trouble seeing _Severance_ as a realistic portrayal of such.

I feel like Drumph just finally got tired of being associated with his own mongoloid offspring so he threw Musk in there to feel a little less like the piece of genetic garbage that he obviously is. But I feel like it's backfiring. Even Musk's nasty little imp looked smarter than Drumph.

OK, at first the accusations that through Starlink Musk rigged the election seemed like a conspiracy theory and I was ashamed people on the good side believed it. Now, with Musk running roughshod on our rights and Trump taking all this humiliation...maybe there's something to it.

Gosh, it never occurred to me that the slacker who golfed his way through his first presidency and botched a pandemic response because he didn't want to have to do anything would relegate the presidency to a robber baron to fleece the country the second time around. Totally unpredictable.

But here is an artist.

To an oligarch all kyndenesse doth looke lyke waste

A sort of book trailer for a novel about a fake president.

Mirbeau's debut an interestingly pre-modernist bildungsroman with one foot in the future and one in the past.

www.blurb.com/b/10080173-f... I hated Trump before it was fashionable. Order a copy from your local independent bookstore.

You can't change the government without harming someone. That said, you could measure change by how much it upsets those rich, powerful, and those mostly impervious to loss and how much it helps the poor, the powerless, and the vulnerable.

This is actually exactly accurate:

Not the author's best work, but a novel about the only thing that really matters: human empathy.

When you compare the black US president with the white ones it's oddly like the DEI hire was really one of the best, way better than the bigotry hires that came before and aft.

I feel so much safer now that all the prosecutors and FBI agents who investigated the Drumph crime family are now ousted, don't you? Also air traffic controllers. All those pesky deep state people who actually make us safe must go so Drumph can make us safe.

An adequate thriller, not quite up to Highsmith's usual quirkiness.

A Neapolitan plumber asked me today, "What's the USA's new president called?" and Told him I didn't know.

classic Loony Tunes have much to teach us about class solidarity

Winter Fashion 😁

Roy was right: they did need a bigger boat.

I spoke to a talented junior scientist who just got a good faculty job offer in the US and they told me “well I wouldn’t move to 1930s Germany either” so that’s how that’s going

Meyrink's magnum opus--not half bad.
