Does it help you discover new books? Or is it only useful if you have the title to search for?

Huh! I've never considered selling ebooks on Itchio. What's your experiences been like? Is it worth doing alongside selling direct?

Agreed. Let it all out and then edit into a review and accompanying essay (or whatever form it needs). And while I can’t speak for anyone else, I would be beyond chuffed for my work to catalyse a personal essay like that. Maybe tag/link to them?

Every time I recover from a "don't wanna eat" bug I know I'm on the mend when my body goes "P I Z Z A. NOW." No idea why always pizza, I mean I like pizza but it's not my go-to or fav takeout. But by this point I just accept that my body has a system.

Admittedly, this may be because my family didn't do these traditions, but I always found it creepy. I actually recently wrote a microfic with a similar approach to your kids! So naturally I think they're being perfectly sensible.

I’ve not used anything verbatim, but I find that if I don’t want to get rid of a scene there’s something there. A good kernel. A line, a concept, a character reaction… That spark is what I pull out and rehome. And most of it just sits, as you say it’s a comfort.

Rather than delete sections I cut-paste them into a CRF (Cutting Room Floor) doc. I call my collection of these docs my “creative compost heap”. Often, given time to ferment and a few turnings, the stuff in there becomes useful in another project.

Especially if it could connect us to people with experience in the topics! I have repeatedly had the internet fail me on questions like "what is the lifting strength of an okapi tongue?" and "if an AI got angry how would that show in the computer noises?".
