“Some of y’all cant handle 2 high agency males going at it and it really shows.”

Some of y’all can’t handle 2 high agency males going at it and it really shows.

People who cannot fully experience a political event until Saturday Night Live regurgitates it for them are fascinating to me.

Actually remembered answering this in response to a @bencollins.bsky.social tweet a while back. Anyhow, 5 that knocked me off my feet: 1. Screaming Females for Ted Leo 2. Jay Som for Mitski 3. Laura Viers for Sufjan Stevens 4. Brendan Benson for The White Stripes 5. Benji Hughes for Bombadil

Let's see, time to log on after my phone was out of commission all day and see what I missed on social media ...

Re-upping for the "not to overnight with a toddler" crowd - STOP FOLLOWING THIS GRIFTY JUNK.

PEOPLE. Stop following this anonymous cringe resistance shit on here. If they don't even know the significance of this despite fighting the right wing being their supposed beat since 2017, why would you trust them to know anything else worthwhile?

It's going to be unprecedented. Like nothing the world has ever seen. Just imagine it's tomorrow morning - what would you do? Bare minimum, you're not going to work, probably not even bothering to call in. All bets are off for at least the next day, maybe more.

Every once in a while, I remember this was a thing that happened, and I laugh uncontrollably for a solid minute or so. variety.com/2021/tv/news...

HOORAY! Josh is the exact opposite of the toxic manosphere bro comic that has come to dominate the conversation in standup, and we could really use a new hour of his warm, encouraging, inclusive, and sharply funny comedy right now, so I'm glad we're about to get one.

Good for Marc knowing when to call it a day, but I do hope we haven't heard the last of him in broadcasting - he's among those serving as a vital counterpoint to the wave of right-wing manosphere chuds dominating the comedy landscape these days.

Go have a listen to the three tracks released so far for this one, and marvel at a band that is five albums into a second act and is still THIS good.

Time again to pitch my Pride shirt for allies who want to show "Free Mom Hugs" love, but just aren't really huggers: Free Supportive Uncle Handshakes, with Meaningful Affirming Eye Contact.

Regardless of how you feel about her as a candidate, @katmabu.bsky.social is breaking down how campaign business as usual is leaving people disconnected, jaded, and alienated from the political process, and imagining how things might be done differently. I think that's worthwhile!

Christ, what an asshole. Democrats, make this woman the face of the GOP's plan to take away health care from, and yes, threaten the lives of countless Americans. This is how they really feel about you. This is the contempt they feel for you. I suggest you return it in kind.

Yeah, this rules. More claiming aggressive, rally round the flag patriotism in the name of a socially progressive vision of this country. These are American values, and those who say otherwise are unpatriotic and weird and full of shit.

Since hearing about it on this week's @whatatimepod.bsky.social bonus episode, I cannot stop thinking about the clown button.

Really fun read for your Friday. Love a deep dive into nerd competitions.

My late, great Aunt Candy used to say "remember everyone has a story, and everyone matters". Horrifying to remember that some people don't just fail to live up to this, but flat out don't believe it to be true.

Since we're talking Werner Von Braun today, I need to bring this up again. Hasn't gotten any less weird to me!

Dispatch from the real world: coworker asked a bunch of us what we thought of Pete Buttigieg today. Hadn't paid him much attention until now, but heard his appearance on Andrew Schultz's podcast, and was blown away by how he was able to communicate smart responses and win over a hostile crowd.

When I was a House Page, Charlie Rangel called the pending Iraq War "some goddamned bullshit" in the cloakroom right as I stepped in - he kindly apologized for his language falling on young ears, but qualified that "this is war we're talking about, young man". Always one of the greatest for that.
