I'm telling you, he watched "Good Night and Good Luck" last night and started getting ideas!

Kind of wonder if he watched "Good Night and Good Luck" last night and was like, fuck it I'm going in.

My family arrangement was that we camped somewhere in the vicinity of a decent hotel. Dad and the kids slept in the tent at the campground, mom got a hotel room to herself, and we all reunited in the morning for hotel breakfast. Worked great!

I mean, COME ON. The 2005 vibes here are just immaculate.

The thing people underappreciate about AOC's political appeal is that it has the power to bend the party/electorate to her will. The Democratic Party was not the centrist DLC third way party until Bill Clinton came along, nor was it the populist progressive anti-war party until Obama came along.

I don't know how exactly, but a WHM - The Distraction crossover episode would rule. Some of the best guys being dudes out there.

How anyone is still giving attention to these "anonymous rogue resistance" type accounts in the year 2025 is so completely baffling to me.

Should go without saying, but it's not really some group of rogue NPS employees. It's all a grift. And a really lazy one at that. There are far better uses of your precious attention.

If the issue was just a lack of "alpha energy", I can think of a Democratic politician who's got that in spades, but I don't think Slotkin would like the answer.

Just looked it up, and Funches had some great one liners on social media as the story was hitting. Good on him for taking it in stride!

Just take a moment and imagine for yourself Ron Funches gradually reacting to the gastrointestinal horrors unfolding around him on that set. Has anyone ever asked either of those guys about this? Are they under NDAs? So many questions!

The retrospective show was a total delight but it really drove home how far in the rearview the days of a stacked roster of quality callers were. There are still standouts, but the shelves are more bare.

Heck, if you need it I'll throw in a "Good on ya, pal," and lean in for a firm pat on the back.

Be interesting to see if Tillis, her companion in prospective squishdom, takes this route at any point between now and 2026.

Yeah, I can see where her wording is vague - they say "deadline" to create a sense of urgency, but don't say or even necessarily imply it's an FEC deadline. Entirely fair! I think her broader point of how this generally accepted format of fundraising email has become a net negative is still valid.

Whatever she's paying the PR person who wrote this, it isn't enough.

I remember at the Womens March in 2017 we stopped in a hotel lobby to use the bathroom and women had just taken over both bathrooms at some point. Had to respect it.

it was great! My favorite sub-genre of Defector posts, coverage of nerd sports (see also the crossword championships piece from a while back)

Singles are SO good, and your bio has me psyched for the full album 👍

The great misconception is that Rogan is poisoning the brains of Zoomers and Gen Alpha, when the truth is it's a whole lot of Gen X tuning into his nonsense. (Millennials blameless as per usual)

Yeah, but I don't know if it explains her trailing Stevens (the most generic Dem congresswoman I can imagine) or El-Sayed (who ran statewide in 2018, but as a Berniecrat gadfly to the inevitable Whitmer machine).

I wonder how much of McMorrow's failure to gain traction is from her being the only non-native Michigander in the field. Would explain how she'd look good as a national Dem rising star but fail to catch fire with statewide voters.

maybe that bit of it was a work to shoehorn the autism angle into the storyline? but yeah, it also seems sadly plausible that Cohen/Congress in general just has real shitty discernment when it comes to autism orgs.
