Yuppp- I've seen it advertised as "amazing" by a lot of people, but that seems to be the same crowd that thinks GIMP is a decent program - AKA Linux users that have never used this type of software professionally.

Ideally, me neither. But for UX design that isn't really an option right now - at least for me.
At least Sketch still has the option to buy it once for 120$ with 1 year of updates (you get to permanently keep that last version afterwards).
I'm keeping an eye on Penpot, but it's nowhere near ready.

But honestly the movie was really forgettable - I kinda struggle to think of unique moments that stuck.

Normally I like shitpost movies but I think what irked me about the Minecraft movie is that you can tell it was made by soulless corporate managers with no idea or care.
It had self aware moments - but none of them were earnest. It had “kids will consume anything” vibes.

If you look at how Google implements Material 3/You colors in Flutter it hurts :P
It’s gotten slightly better but it (used to) be filled with random opacities and not following their own design token system x.x
Material You feels too complex to work with yet looks too flat and simple in design.

imo Windows 8.1 is the most - if not the only - decent OS Microsoft has ever made.
In terms of software quality that is, visually it’s a crime.
But it was fast and relatively without bloat (especially after installing Start8 or StartIsBack) with support for SSD trimming etc.

I think my brain has become wired to see my smartphone as the Free Dopamine machine and this app doesn’t give me the dopamine apps like TikTok, YouTube, Bluesky and Telegram do.
