Nie wspominając o ciągłej pracy badawczej zespołów wspomagających na ziemi. Wiele wynalazków stosowanych dziś w życiu codziennym miało swój początek jako element przygotowania badań kosmosu jako takiego.

W tym sęk, że tego nikt do końca nie jest w stanie przewidzieć, bo są to badania kompletnie nowe, w warunkach jakich na Ziemi nie powtórzysz. Można szacować i zakładać, ale ostatecznie liczą się tylko twarde dane, bo tylko one mogą być podstawą do przełomów.

I have a freelance embedded project where the PCB (done by someone else) got flunked around the ethernet phy in a way, that removing a log call anywhere in the code can end up shifting the overall timing just enough to break the mcu-phy link in unpredictable ways.

Chyba lepiej żeby nowy lek/technologia powstały przy wsparciu środków publicznych i dzięki temu była bardziej dostępna, niż żeby została natychmiast opatentowana dla zysku (a czasem nawet tylko dla uniknięcia konkurencji).

Żeby lepiej i taniej leczyć, trzeba przełomów w nauce i technologii. A te przychodzą znienacka, czasem w najbardziej niepozorny sposób w ramach "badań podstawowych".
ISS jest naszym najlepszym laboratorium do przełomowych badań wszelkiego rodzaju i wiele się tam już nauczyliśmy o życiu na ziemi.
