European #Zebrafish Resource Center (EZRC) joined #Bluesky

While it is hard to predict ahead of time *what* the actual discoveries will be that we will make together, it is relatively safe to assume *that* they will happen. Welcome new T-Track Prof. Miha Modic @paraspeckle.bsky.social to @kit.edu Karlsruhe I am so very excited to have you with us now!

All you nuclear biologists out there: Here is a cautionary tale not to be fooled by peripheral organelle staining. It might just be that your antibody got trapped because it is "too good".

Wow, some of *the* nuclei labeling experts are addressing the “ring staining problem”. I can confirm this observation, I’ve seen a lot of our samples affected by it, good to have a systematic account of the phenomenon!

Our Synthetic Genomics Center "SynGen" is looking for a coordinator, located at @kit.edu Karlsruhe, but coordinating also the U Heidelberg and U Mainz sites. We are hoping to fill this vacancy ASAP. For further info, please visit: www.syn-gen.de/en www.pse.kit.edu/english/karr... Please share 🙏

You know what happens when you release this stretched DNA-hydrogel from the pipette? It snaps right back! With help of Niemeyer Lab @kit.edu our Chiara Schmitt made this gel from a circular DNA template by Rolling Circle Amplification. We plan to mimic spatial sorting known from “real” chromatin.

Do you need a certificate to work with fish models? Transgenic lines or mutants generated by Sanger or Tübingen? Get in touch with us at www.ezrc.kit.edu! #Zebrafish

Mild spring greetings 🌸 You are looking at one of the smaller castles in Karlsruhe, Schloss Gottesaue. Please consider @kit.edu Karlsruhe as one of your top destinations for your next international career step 🌸

Watch as we inject morpholinos into zebrafish embryos to knockdown gene expression! 🦓🐟😍 #ZebrafishRock #GeneticResearch #Knockdown #ScienceInAction @zebrafishrock.bsky.social

Sadly, me, for the past two years; so many challenges impacting my ability for productive research and teaching Sorry to the many colleagues, trainees, and students affected, and, sorry to myself :-/

New review that is a positively easy read, summing up two findings that, each, totally changed my view of transcription factories: Transcription factors can hand over from one to the next within minutes Transcription factories exert non-local control by sequestering machinery from remote genes 👏👏

If you happen to be in Regensburg at DPG German Physical Society, check out our PhD student Aaron Gadzekpo’s talk today Monday 10:30 :-D He’ll present amazing new results on scale-bridging simulations of phase-separation of artificial DNA-nanomotifs. Location is lecture hall H44, come by!

Great preview of of our #FLUCS workshop next week #TIM2025 from @gerbi-gmb.de Our CEO @swarnck.bsky.social and founder Gert Rapp as well as Simona Stelea are looking forward to meeting you there

Iliya Stoev showing us some impromptu FLUCS action on our new install from Rapp Optoelectronics, while prepping for a workshop with Rapp next week. Accompanied by our incoming tenure-track colleague Miha Modic @paraspeckle.bsky.social and his student Jona Novljan

If you are in a position of power (tenured faculty, institute director or similar), and you witness these things, and you do not intervene, you are complicit. www.dw.com/en/how-germa...

We have an open postdoc position in our group! We seek motivated and fun people with a background in theoretical biological physics to work on projects revolving around pattern formation, cell biology, and particularly #condensates. Details: www.ds.mpg.de/4078435/job_... #TheoBiophysicsPosition

We invite applications for the role of Executive Editor for @dev-journal.bsky.social . This is an exciting opportunity for a talented scientific editor. If you're an experienced editor with a love of developmental biology and its community, apply by 10 March 2025: bit.ly/4iioRL3
