Thank you! I am indebted to a Mosotho who worked on the project for the best part of it--the "Selling Gravity." He is thanked profusely in the book! It fundamentally reshaped how I saw the project as soon as I read that line.

I will say, too, that the "find" function is a modern miracle that greatly assists in silly proofreading quests like this!

The University of Virginia once bulldozed an entire Black community in Charlottesville. Think about Gospel Hill whenever you drive past the hospital-med school-nursing school complex. news.virginia.edu/content/uva-...

I mean, I was mocking myself for giving Hendrik Verwoerd credit for decisions taken in November 1966 (after 2+ months being dead) last night on here. What is more fun than academic mockery of one's self?!?! Of course, to blame is my original source that published that claim, but still!

God I love when the tables get turned on racists. When their "big ideas" blow up in their faces. And generations down the line we all reap the rewards. This, the long game of teaching, is what keeps me going through the shit-show that is our life and times!

They also have lots of photos of the visit to #Lesotho, including some great shots of the crowd at the #PitsoGround in #Maseru (and the journey to get there): atom.drisa.co.za/index.php/ba... (Work back in the album...lots of amazing stuff in there)

What do they say? Ideology is a hell of a drug! Even if you don't recognize that your own belief systems are an ideology!

To treat white South Africans as refugees while denying the legitimate claims of refugee status from people fearing violence in Syria, Venezuela, Sudan, etc., makes a mockery of refugee law. This is about US racial politics and Trump's white supremacist agenda more than anything else.

"N.S.F. grant funding for core engineering disciplines has dropped by 57 percent this year. These divisions fund areas like robotics, manufacturing innovations and semiconductor research."

As I noted to someone I talked to yesterday about this, the (white) guy I interviewed on his farm in #RSA, with his polo horses and 3 tractor-trailers to transport them, didn't seem too concerned about a genocide as he traipsed around the whole country to matches!

I knew there were a few suitably geeky folks on here who would get and appreciate my historical insight 😂😂😂

If you want to understand late colonial/early independence #Lesotho, Ntate Morojele's novel 'How We Buried Puso' is just exquisite.
