2/2. So why not wait untill F35 block 4 is in production. In the meantime, order a batch of Typhoons (as per our allies) to keep the skills for GCAP. When 2030 comes around, re-asses the requirement and see how many F35 block 4s we need.

Not doubt low observable and sensor fusion are big advantages. But right now, all 🇬🇧 F35Bs have are a short range air to air missle and gravity drop bomb, right?
The integration of the 'good stuff' has been delayed again, (end of the decade )+ will require a costly software and hardware upgrade.....

What's the point of spending a significant amount on the F35B when most of our weaponry isn't integrated yet; Brimstone, Meteor & Stormshadow.

Helicopter hangar will be essential.
Since the ships are moving up the warfighting scale, it makes sense to duplicate the weapons fit, CMS and radar of the 31 Frigate.
Land attack could be NSM. VLS (FFBNW) when FC/ASW is available.
Main driver will be the size of the boats needed for RM raids.
