youtu.be/pvT3aQjLxdE Here's a 🎶 twist on Coldplay's thumping #VivaLaVida we're calling "Puppets on a Kremlin String?" It reflects on the grotesque media spectacle hosted by #Trump & #Vance yesterday at the White House. In solidarity with Zelensky & Ukraine. #SlavaUkraini #Dontabandonthem

Great to see a new rainbow plaque in Warwick Avenue this LGBT History Month, honouring journalist, actor and lesbian rights activist Jackie Forster. The project celebrates the vital contributions of LGBTQIA+ communities, past and present, to our city.

Thirty five years ago we called this West Germany and East Germany.

Please share this fact sheet on Ukraine with anyone who needs it understandingwar.org/backgrounder...

Have written about JD Vance’s Munich speech. In what may prove to be the biggest week for European security since 1991, it’s time Europe listened to what Trump and his Vice President are telling us. open.substack.com/pub/goodalla...

The people of Europe stand with Ukraine against the threat of a false peace as much as brutal war. Because of our shared history. Because of our shared future. Because it is just. Because it is necessary. And because they deserve nothing less. Don't abandon them. #SlavaUkraini youtu.be/u8GftJEa4_8

There is no such fucking thing as being “too woman” to pilot a helicopter, “too gay” to land a plane or “too black” to be an air traffic controller. There is however, such a thing as being too hateful, too stupid & too sociopathic to be president. And we call that Donald Trump.

Is there a reason why we still have a BBC that is a press office for the Conservatives and Reform UK even though neither of them are in power?

I adore this voice. ✊

Jacob Rees-Mogg's show is set to be cancelled after 1 season, due to disasterous ratings. What a shame 🤣

A rather magical visit to the House of Commons in the Palace of Westminster. At a meeting there today I was surprised to learn that the UK's automotive, aerospace and life sciences industries are all smaller, even when all three are added together, than the UK's creative industries.

I've written about what dying typically looks like - not as a 'pro' or 'anti' AD piece, but in the spirit of confronting a taboo. We've lost the easy familiarity with the patterns of dying that existed when death typically occurred in people’s own homes. Let's talk about it 🙏 @newstatesman.com

In 1970 the UK and Norway were roughly equal, almost no debt, and owned all their Public Services. Now the UK owns nothing and has ÂŁ3tn of debt. While Norway still owns everything and has the equivilant per person of ÂŁ10tn. That's how privatisation 'works'.

Right. The National Trust has decorated a 140 foot-high Christmas tree. The tallest in the land. I will fight any newspaper that says we’ve cancelled christmas this year. With my biggest festive handbag. www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1981...

Tomorrow, MPs will vote on the assisted dying bill. After many conversations with residents and careful thought, I have decided to support the bill. I am deeply grateful to those who shared their personal stories about end-of-life care, your views have played a key role in forming my decision.

132 years ago this cartoon was drawn, and in 132 years the problem has only gotten worse.

The UK is spending ÂŁ369m refurbishing Buckingham Palace for King Charles, who has ÂŁ22bn and gets ÂŁ500m more a year. He can pay for his own renovations, ÂŁ369m is more than England spends on building Social Housing in an entire year for the whole country.

This is horrifying, and our birth rate is also the lowest it's ever been so there are no excuses for the Tories.

An object lesson in right-wing bias in our media. Sob story about struggling hill farmer in his eighties losing out in IHT. The Times didn't think it worth mentioning that the guy was chair of the London stock exchange for most of his career.

Government of the People by the (very rich) people …

Doesn't suprise me at all. Lost my mum, dad, stepmother in the space of 7 years. I have absolutely no desire to go through what they went through. Weeks of struggling to eat/drink/defecate and finally breathe. I have no interest in going through that myself. I hope Kim Leadbeater's bill passes.

Not sure where you stand on assisted dying? Strongly recommend listening to this interview with Kim Leadbeater about her Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill. podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t... It may put people's minds at rest. The bill is so tightly drawn up - too tightly in my view.
