I hope the new bus stops in County Durham & Northumberland receive Calvert B for Buses branding, so they look integrated with the rest of the region’s transport. Our unique visual identifiers, designed by legendary M.Calvert, are instantly recognisable & give a cohesive look.

Request for Covid signage to be taken down: FULFILLED. ☺️

Could be interesting. The Modernist City in the 21st Century Wednesday 28 May 18.00–19.30 “This event explores the status of the modernist city today and what aspects of its legacy – built and idealistic – should be preserved”. www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-modern...

Wow, Seoul tore down a city centre highway and made it into a linear park with a stream, (and traffic got better). …Gateshead Highway… Newcastle’s CME… 👀 youtu.be/wqGxqxePihE?...

May version. 🚇🚆 Tidied up the Tyne Valley line stations, and removed the ‘check for opening date’ asterisk from Newsham.

Monument Station really is looking rather grim & dingy in places. Sitting beneath Grey’s Monument, with 4 platforms and tunnels heading north, south, east & west, it’s not only the busiest Metro station in Newcastle City Centre, but on the entire Tyne and Wear Metro network. Time for a refurb?

An excellent video on why Newcastle & the wider region should bring back trams, by Edificity! Love the thought of a pedestrian and tram only Blackett Street too! 😍 WATCH HERE > youtu.be/NqNsRSMyY9s?...

Heaton Baptist Church’s community garden is a nice little addition to Heaton Road. - Seating - Planting - Bug & bird habitats - Water-butts

The public realm improvements at Ninth Avenue & Chillingham Road in Heaton look great! - Seating - Rain gardens - Bug & bird habitats - Talk tubes A nice little spot for the community & public to sit and enjoy.

A few days left to vote (Metroland), please...

Also marked on that map: 🔸 East Gateshead i.e. the long talked about ‘Gateshead Quays’ station, (which is a much better & more useful name than East Gateshead IMO).

A map published in the North East Local Growth Plan shows possible National Rail stations for the ‘Leamside South’ line at 🔸Penshaw 🔸Fencehouses 🔸West Rainton 🔸Belmont 🔸Shincliffe & Bowburn before connecting to Ferryhill: www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

How about getting a tram through the West End of Newcastle. Along West Rd, out to Denton, West Denton and right on to Hillhead Rd for Chapel House & Chapel Pk. Maybe extend to Westerhope? At the other end, through the city centre, Tyne Bridge, Gateshead and down Durham Rd? 🟦=🚈

Love this!! 👇

The Pilgrim St public realm improvements are nearing completion which inc: - New paving - New pedestrian crossings - New SUDs & planting - New cycleway The southern section towards Mosley St looks about complete, with further work still required at the northern/Market St end.

The renovated building forming the Northumberland St and Brunswick Place corner of Monument Mall is looking very smart, and I don’t just mean without Sports Direct signage. Shame the new rooftop element was dropped, but nonetheless it’s looking great.

The exterior of Newcastle’s ‘Pilgrim’s Quarter’ is nearing completion. The Carliol House facade in particular is looking great with its new windows and cleaned stonework.

Thankfully all stations on the Northumberland Line were built to accommodate 4-car trains. Hopefully Northern can source some additional units soon. We don’t want current & potential passengers put off by crowded trains.

That was an interesting talk between Newcastle and New York this evening, with Owen Hopkins (Farrell Centre), Alistair Ford (NCL Uni & DARe), and Matthew Johnson (designer and director of the High Line in New York City). 🗽 🌱 🌳

Good to see redevelopment of the old Wilko site at Wansbeck Square, at Ashington Station, with new public realm planned. Plus a brand new campus for Ashington College, just an 8 min walk away. And the Northumberland Line as popular as ever. It’s going to need 4 cars more often!

Whitley Bay Station.

This big warehouse which has stood empty & forgotten for over a year now, in Sunderland City Centre, is set to become a new branch of Costco! 🙌 🪪 🛒 *
