I would welcome the Balrog at this point. As long as it made the end quick.

We are called to do our creative work, and it is a call we cannot ignore. But then there is survival. When we can get those two callings to meet it is glorious but when we cannot.... Well, something always has to give.

This is literally why I gave up on trying to be a writer in the early 1990s and joined the army instead.

I was hired at a new day job for IT helpdesk support, but that job doesn't start until the end of June.

Yes, I do have a new day job but it doesn't start until the end of June. I'm just trying to get by until then.
(Yes, if there's a local help agency I've already applied, that's all I've been 🤬ing doing for the last month.)

Sorry, it's not exactly easy to write quality smut when I'm looking up how to apply for homeless shelters.

I absolutely get that. That's literally why I started doing the supposedly daily writing prompts.

Yeah, I know this. However, for me, I need to be relaxed and de-stressed in order to write. If I try to write when stressed it becomes another stress.

Very much so.

But in the US trying to get any form of public assistance is essentially a full-time job. And all the programs work on "deny first" and then relent after you appeal enough times.

To be honest, most of my effort has been going into job applications, and trying to get my family various forms of assistance to get us through the rough patch caused by by loss of employment. Not sure how it is in the UK...

Anyway, with a new day job on the horizon, I'm hoping to get back into a decent routine for writing and life once I settle into the new work schedule. In the meantime, I'll still try to make writing more of a priority.

I'm horrible at adjusting when my routines get disrupted and since losing my day job at the end of April, disruption is a constant. Hell, it's a struggle to get into the 🤬 shower most days.

Yes, I'm behind in my writing. I haven't been getting my daily prompt work done. I'm very behind in the sword & sorcery series and "Will Cast Spells For Food." I'm sorry.

Thank you. Chapter 4 is going to be a bit delayed due to dealing with IRL stuff.
