There were the corrupt ones, and there were the stupid ones. This administration combines the two. Efficient!

Thanks! You as well!

He wouldn't be the first outsider the land embraced. I don't think he'd ever be as comfortable with it as Ronal became, but he'd be better suited for the dangers so that evens out.

It's basically impossible to go wrong with mac & cheese. It doesn't have to cost much unless you go wild with the cheeses, which can be tons of fun but isn't technically necessary.

If he and Emma ever met, I think they'd become very good friends.

I know a rendezvous point when I see one. Who would Tahl have to meet out in the middle of nowhere? I can only think of one person, assuming it's not someone new. That would definitely keep Bok's bad luck streak going. However, Bok could take that snowsteel blade for Flash if they get their rematch.

And the thing is, Superman would actually agree with a lot of what Lex would have to say. He only throws his weight around when (as it were) lives are immediately at stake, because he knows how powerful he is and he understands that power alone doesn't give him the right to reshape the world

Oh my God you're right!

Did Bok just end up in the country the bearer of the data stone would least want to be?

Yay curious little robot buddy!

Thank you! You as well!

So he's fighting a self-repairing combat bot, and he just lost his sword? This isn't the worst spot he's been in, but he was rescued from all the worse ones. I guess we'll have to see how this goes.

You too! Thanks!

Flash to the rescue!

This is very creepy, and I don't think context will make it less so. Well done!

New robot buddy?

Tribute, huh? From whom, and why? And why do I think there was an ulterior motive?

The only age appropriate Terran woman we've met to date would be Selene. Loathing the very idea would be one of their few spots of complete agreement.

Subscriber here. The first week is both intriguing and eerie. We may have gotten a glimpse at why the arc has this title.

Normally, better the devil you know. This is an exception! I doubt Tahl would send himself into any sort of immediate danger, but not all of Team Earth has his capabilities. Or his alliances.

If he didn't, he should have. That was a very tactful understatement.

Except without the syphilis... I think.

That's a good way of doing it. Was that our first on-panel Bok/Dale interaction?
comment in response to post
Satisfying as the punch would have been... yeah, good call. Do the italics in Dale's speech bubble mean she's whispering?

Lasagna is always good!

I'm not saying that he takes no pleasure. He's too fond of his ironic punishments for me to say that!

It helps that she was briefly fixated on an alternate version of Flash. I see the point, though. She may be the #2 villain, but I think she might be viler than #1. I don't think that Ming *enjoys* his actions the way she does. (I could be wrong about that, we haven't spent much time with him yet.)

Running was the smartest thing they could have done. I wouldn't want to fight Azura, especially not in her palace. I also love the Next panel. You know how much we want to see him get punched in the face!
comment in response to post
How much of that was for Dale, how much for Flash, and how much for the Margrave himself?
comment in response to post
He is hardly the first billionaire to not understand it. He is I think the first to freely admit his lack of understanding.

I give you full credit. This is one of the most disturbing bits in the strip thus far, and I'm a little surprised that you were allowed to do it. You pulled no punches about what that was.

Thanks! You too!

I love (for a given value of the term) the look on Flash's face in the last panel. I don't think we've ever seen him look that frightened while being that helpless.
comment in response to post
The contrast is a huge part of why the book worked.

So we'll find out relatively quickly? Interesting. Also foreboding sounding.

With the time travel aspect in play... this is how she got the Margrave back in her clutches, isn't it?

Normally when a rich person in the 70s wears a lot of white, I'd think they don't want the cocaine showing on their clothes. Danny is a rare exception.

The Phalanx are long standing X-Villains, they perfectly fit into the Man v Mutant v Machine theme, and they're tied to the X-Men through Warlock and Cable. All of that is Hickman's jam.

Agreed. He was clearly going to be A Problem, because teaming up with a guy like that and not expecting big trouble is spectacularly arrogant, but I doubt he was going to be The Problem.

The whole thing with Moira would have gone down differently. I'm certain of that much.

They talked a good game about transcending old ways of thinking, but they failed in so many ways.

Emma Frost: Class Traitor has a ring to it.

Xavier is by far the most conservative X type, and he's almost a liberal (almost a parody of one when written poorly). The rest? Push comes to shove, most of them are decidedly to the left of him on most things.

You mean to tell me a bunch of emotionally damaged kinksters (most of whom are at least a little queer) who get into violent arguments over minor disagreements, who generally prefer restoration to incarceration, who aspire to a world of harmony that comes from radical acceptance, are dirty LEFTISTS?
comment in response to post
If they went back in time, then technically aren't there three Flashes on Mongo right now? Somewhere Ming has a giant migraine and doesn't know why.

I'm sure those bright green eyes are just a coincidence!
