Post a picture of you that isn’t actually you.

Medicaid cuts don’t just hurt kids w/ disabilities. They hurt ALL children. 50% are insured by Medicaid/CHIP. If Medicaid falls, services will fall like dominos, limiting the availability of #pediatric resources to everyone, even those with private insurance/cash pay. The system will collapse.

The richest man in the world calls people who get help from government programs the “parasite class.” But Medicaid’s beneficiaries aren’t parasites. Half of them are children. If we’re talking about people who depend on government, Elon Musk is the biggest “parasite” of all.

Dr. Shelby Doyle, 3rd year fellow from Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital/Corewell Health, presented her impressive project about metabolomics in RSV/RE infection this afternoon. #PedsICU #SCCM25

Looking forward to this talk on prone positioning in COVID-19 #SCCM2025 #PedsICU by Jiafeng Xie from China.

I finally got to meet @chriscarrollmd.bsky.social IRL! #Sccm #SCCM2025 #PedsICU

Huge thanks to @pccmdoc.bsky.social for making this happen! #SCCM2025 #PedsICU @lifeandpicu.bsky.social @sapnakmd.bsky.social @yoncabulutmd.bsky.social @chriscarrollmd.bsky.social @abusultaneh.bsky.social @sccmcriticalcare.bsky.social

Ok #PedsICU, who is heading to #SCCM? @sccm-pediatrics.bsky.social @deannamarie208.bsky.social @pccmdoc.bsky.social @wendyhassonmd.bsky.social @brownam130.bsky.social

Medicare coverage for most telehealth services will end March 31 according to CMS, see link I, for one, will be telling my patients about this. And, I will tell them that the current administration is behind it. And, that the cruelty of this clawback is by design. www.medicare.gov/coverage/tel...

Squish picks up 📞 : “Hello, papa? Are you there? Are you still dead? I miss you. Ok bye bye!” Me: 😭😭😭 Squish: “Want to play mommy?” Grief is wild on your own. It’s wilder while also trying to understand what your 3-year-old needs from you. But we muddle through.

Today in a wellness session I watched: -a senior physician leader talk about how worried he is for his group and his patients - another leader walk someone through where/how to cross the border with the least trouble - people support each other I loved it and also hated the need for it. #BlueSky

If you’re a leader in healthcare, acknowledging the fear and uncertainty (and other emotions) that people are feeling right now is key.

“Why did you decide to do these listening sessions?” Me: “We decided it was important to say out loud that everyone in healthcare is uncertain and many with marginalized identities are terrified.” Gathering doesn’t solve the reality of the world right now, but it does let us keep going. #BlueSky

Gutting Medicaid, which many rely on for maternity care and to pay for the NICU (birth weight < 1,200 g), is the most anti fetus, anti-newborn legislation possible.

First they came for immigrants & we spoke up because it’s the right thing to do. Then they came for trans people & we spoke up because it’s the right thing to do. Then they came for federal research dollars & we spoke up because we don’t want to die of diseases that scientists can cure.

People are doing things. You will meet those people when you start doing things. The easiest form of advocacy is for you to pressure your representatives to oppose the Musk takeover and destruction of our federal agency infrastructure. (Blueprint enclosed)

If you have the time, energy, and/or money to do something for someone, do it. It doesn’t have to be a “big thing” or fix all of the world’s problems. Let it be one of the many small things that we do each day that helps us keep inching (clawing?) toward the world we want to live in.

I just joined @drsforamerica.bsky.social, "an organization representing 27,000 physicians & medical students that filed a lawsuit against multiple federal agencies over the removal of public health information & health-related data from gov't websites." So glad to see efforts to fight back. #medsky

I won’t solve the world’s problems tonight, but I was able to provide some milk so my neighbor could finish cooking dinner for her sick kids AND threw in a glass of wine for her because… *gestures vaguely at the state of the planet* …well, you know.

“I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone.” I’ve learned that when I feel like I don’t know how to help, all I have to do is look around me and an answer always appears. It doesn’t “solve” the world. But it helps us keep moving forward. #PedsICU #MedSky

We can all be the light if we choose to be.

This past weekend in the #PedsICU was one of the worst of my career so far. All of my usual strategies for coping have been mostly useless in the face of it all… except this one. Today, I’m doing whatever small things I can to find joy. Maybe this will help you too. #MedSky

Healthcare workers: Now is a great time to plan ahead before you’re face-to-face with an ICE agent. I’ve compiled 14 tips for healthcare workers ⬇️

This really sums up today on service. And being a mom after that. And just being a person in the world. Maybe you feel it too. #PedsICU

Many #PedsICU #ICU colleagues moved to friendly skies @bsky.app 💙 @sapnakmd.bsky.social @pccmdoc.bsky.social @deannamarie208.bsky.social @brownam130.bsky.social @vslanziotti.bsky.social @jennamillermd.bsky.social @sccmcriticalcare.bsky.social @drsmileyarun.bsky.social @lifeandpicu.bsky.social

Pick your focus and stick with it. We cannot fight in all fronts or we will become overwhelmed. But we can all peel off a corner in our area of expertise and begin to reveal effective strategies for resisting the chaos. Every single one of us has something to offer.
