In honor of Maine Governors, I feel like I should tell everyone that there is a restaurant in Maine called Governor's and they have a dessert called The Federal Deficit and it's just all of their desserts in a giant bowl.
This is unrelated to anything really, I just like telling people about it.

you, even the 'you' of the suburban class with regular actblue donations, do not exist in their mind the same way. you aren't 'real' to electeds the same way these wealthier people they interact with daily are.
you can think of it like a country club or gated community. and you're not a member.

in situations like this, i try to avoid "i told you so". instead: "do you understand my perspective now"
lotta this stuff, this deeply held faith holds tight until people run into circumstances personally affecting them, and it's better to go "okay, do you see where i'm coming from now" to it
