you really shouldn't be using Chat GPT, not only is it terrible for the environment, it has a habit of hallucinating fake legal info which will harm our case massively

the more I think about it, the more I have a potentially hot take about the optics of one of the parts of the plot, but I think it needs more time in the oven

I also worry if this is gonna trickle down to other festivals and concerts too, especially the more corporate venues

There is nothing an average PC user needs to do that can't be done on Linux anymore, arguably most things can be done far better on it. And at the very least, at least you won't be instantiating an entire web browser every time you want to open your app menu. jfc

I also wonder what Linux Vendors can do to shake the image of "only nerds use Linux" which is a statement that hasn't been true since androids debut, and especially so since the Steam Deck dropped.

mostly down to not trusting the Garbage Collector not to cause issues on the realtime thread, though I am sure there are ways around that but also, I'm much more familiar with C++ and making sure that nothing is calling into the OS on the real time thread for example

at the moment hobby game development, but I could see myself using it for any of the applications I write that aren't realtime audio based

the phrase Cross Sex pisses me off so much, its medically inaccurate and designed just to scare cis people

in the supreme court ruling they refer to the 1975 sex discrimination act (as far as I can tell because its the newest legislation that can be construed to be transphobic enough for them) so they're referring to sex as described in the 1975 act

Wholeheartedly agree I’m hoping them being obvious and inept at laundering their bigotry will make people clock how awful they are

We ended up “targeting” voiceover because we mainly had a Mac user base, but still wanted it to work on windows (a surprisingly large amount of production houses are windows based) And even small things like what text gets read in what order was entirely different on every platform

this may have been a shortcoming of the library that was being used for all of these projects, it was not designed with screen reader support baked in and it was only added in varyingly half hearted amounts over the course of years. but again, all of the infrastructure *needs* to be better.

now the app itself was held together with tape and hope at the best of times, but similar problems occured when working on this at other companies. It really shouldn't require the entire interface to be rebuilt from scratch to add this really important feature

Having worked with screen readers as a developer (integrating them into Audio Plugins) it amazed me how universally terrible they were, they struggled with certain words and symbols constantly and a large part of the work was trial and error with what would get them to voice the words correctly.

wouldn't leaving the ECtHR torpedo the Good Friday Agreement?

Don’t get me wrong, the vast majority of the UK population remain entirely neutral – they’re neither massively supportive nor opposed to trans people living their lives – but the media and (previous Tory and current Labour) government keep bouncing trans around as a political football.
