I hope someone is organizing the tens of thousands of newly freed up and freshly radicalized federal workers...

As a result, she said, just three full-time employees remain in both the Yellowstone and Bozeman ranger districts to manage 19 rental cabins, 60 bathrooms, 21 campgrounds and other infrastructure spread across 1 million acres. www.bozemandailychronicle.com/townnews/wor...

these are the worst people and deserve worse fates than can be comfortably imagined

One of my professors pronounces metadata as “MAYtadayta” and I physically recoil every time

They're mad that library boards don't want to cave to their weird fucking worldview. And since gaining a majority on every board isn't working out, the new plan is to simply seize power and damn the entire idea of good governance.

Honestly, if I get one more goddamn fundraising text for an election we might never see… Dems, why don’t you get that we will not reelect you if you don’t fight back NOW?

I know Mahmoud. Like all of these attacks, this is so heartbreaking and wrong. "Israeli police raided a long-established Palestinian-owned bookstore in east Jerusalem, detaining the owners and confiscating books about the decades-long conflict. The police claimed the books incited violence."

Introducing: SNAP Show and Tell Have you ever come across something in the archives that made you stop in your tracks? Whether it was an unexpected document, a fascinating artifact, or a story hidden in the records, we want to hear about it! For our new SNAP blog series, SNAP Show and Tell, we’re…

Just push your way in! Make this brownshirt fuck put his hands on a congressperson on camera!

I think what's being done to trans people in this country is a FUCKING SCANDAL. It's absolutely an attempt at eradicating trans people from public life and ALL OF US must refuse this. Everyone. Stop being a loser mealy mouth person. This is bullshit. You should say so in all the places you inhabit.

I sincerely don’t know why people aren’t physically stopping those dorks. Move shit. Lock doors. Lose the keys. Everyone switch seats. Turn off all the lights. Switch the signs on the elevator lobby. Make the settings all silly. Use a different language. Wear costumes. Fill rooms with balloons

35+ Dems plan to hold the Senate floor all night to oppose the confirmation of Musk-Trump funding freeze architect Russ Vought. THIS is how we fight back while in the minority. (via @schatz.bsky.social)

Take the 2025 Member Survey! What can SNAP do for you? We're asking SNAP members to take a few moments to answer a brief survey. This will inform the steering committee about how members are engaging with us and what you'd like to see from future programming so we can help students and new…

Everything is terrible but here’s some great Black library history

I’d be there if I didn’t have to work. Show up, Raleigh!

Had a great turnout calling on Thom Tillis to stand up for North Carolinians, thank you for the tools @leahgreenberg.bsky.social @ezralevin.bsky.social! We had 3 local media outlets join us, will post links when stories are up.

Supposedly we are in a 24 hour news cycle, but this breaking news isn't being covered by CNN, NBC or anyone else. Why the hell not?

Maybe the American press should start acting like it’s the one profession protected by the Constitution idk

What’s his beef against USAID in particu….oh. Wow.

hey, cis folks: is this good for trans people, do you think? are trans people still being hysterical? are we still just oppression tourists whining about having a hard time with bathrooms?

A massive thread of resources, history, information, and material to help you not only fight and understand book censorship but protect the incredible democratic institutions of public libraries and public education. This is updated regularly!

RFK’s racist blathering harkens back to the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia where Black people—told we were immune—were asked to care for the perishing and neglected sick. 10% of free Black Philadelphians died.

Black Lives Matter fundamentally broke these people’s brains. They couldn’t bear the idea that they might have to tell a different story about this country and thus tell a different story about themselves. They hated it, and now they are using everything they have to never feel that way again.

Good morning. RFK Jr would be an absolute disaster for NIH. The HHS Secretary has enormous power over NIH. Enormous. He could effectively end the agency as a science funder. Please organize to stop RFK Jr. Students, you can help: use all the channels you have to get the word out.

She has asylum status and a work permit. She was arrested after a fight with her little brother. It didn't take long for it to move beyond "very dangerous people."

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights has announced that it is arbitrarily dismissing student and parent complaints arising out of public schools’ documented acts of censorship and discrimination. Our response: Book bans are real. Full statement ➡️ www.ala.org/news/2025/01...

I don’t know if this will help anyone but Sauron came back a a LOT of times before he was finally defeated

I can't believe people say Elon is a Nazi just because he wants concentration camps, politically supports Nazis, financially supports Nazis, and sometimes does the Nazi salute when he is excited

So about that ceasefire…

Mutual aid is not just a disaster response, it’s a way of caring for one another, building stronger communities, and preparing for whatever life may throw at us next. It’s a labor of love—and a way of life. I put together a reading list (and words of advice) for LitHub: lithub.com/we-only-have...

“No one can contribute precisely what you can figure out and say in just those words that are your voice. …certainly not the ecocide-plagiarism machines… digital vultures bloated on stolen books which they churn together and vomit out in imitations of words from actual thinking, feeling brains.”

These are very good suggestions, but a few key ones are missing: attend library board mtgs and speak in favor (many are on zoom), donate $, and vote for measures and bonds to increase funding. Patrons have real power. Don't let a handful of bigots destroy your library.

82% of voting attendees at #AHA25 voted for the resolution condemning scholasticide in Gaza and the AHA council vetoed it. This is appalling and undemocratic, and makes me ashamed to be a member. @historians.org

Hot Take: depression’s the worst! Like, sure, walking the dog, eating food, showering, completing even one necessary task are all concrete, very doable actions that would definitely make me feel better but I only have the energy to go from lying down in one place to lying down in a different place

Respectfully & from the bottom of my heart, if you think anything in the world could justify this, you’re a monster or an idiot or some impressive combination of both.

Ok #booksky, let’s talk. 👎🏼Goodreads, owned by Amazon, fuels its monopoly on books. 👍🏼StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform, offers an ethical, ad-free alternative with mood-based recommendations, user control over data, and a focus on inclusivity. Support diversity over corporate power!

What if we made my radical labor history book for young readers age 10-14 a bestseller, and got the stories of Black socialists and trailblazing trans autoworkers and Indigenous labor organizers in front of the kids who need them? #booksky www.simonandschuster.com/books/Fight-...
