I've found that with a good elastomeric respirator, I can handle tear gas even without sealed goggles.
It sucks, you get red stinging eyes and you might need an occasional rinse but you won't be totally blinded. Tear gas is worse on the breathing than on the eyes.
Lacrosse goggles don't fog up.

You can invest more in protest safety gear but, as someone who's been to probably hundreds of these things, no need to overdo it.
A dirtbike jacket with a chest protector if you want, but hide it under a jacket.
If you look too "tactical" you get singled out for target practice and arrest.

Are we at the point at which it’s not possible to honorably work for the DOJ or FBI? I can’t say. Either the time has come and passed or we are, at a minimum, close to it. Everyone knows what DOJ and the FBI are now.
As for the USAF? Once Hegseth illegally deploys them stateside, that’s the moment.

A bike or skateboard helmet provides "good enough" protection from impact munitions. Not perfect, but they're cheap and lightweight.
WEAR A CUP to protect your private parts. I *never* go to protests without a cup. Cops target your groin more than any other body part.
