Remember that Europe (@ebi.embl.org) has mirrored all these services and they will keep on running. They look and feel a bit different but do the same thing. I think @ewanbirney.bsky.social should be able to confirm. www.europepmc.org www.ebi.ac.uk/jdispatcher/...

Thank you #AACR for your strong support of #cancer researchers and the people who do that work! www.aacr.org/about-the-aa...

Do you know Daisy Roulland-Dussoix? She is one of the discoverers of restriction enzymes, who’s findings paved the way for the development of recombinant DNA and cloning technologies. Accordingly, the finding was rewarded with a #NobelPrize. But the prize didn’t go to her. 🧵👇

Affected by #NIH and #NFS funding cuts? Considering a move abroad to escape? I haven't advertised this yet, but I have fresh funding for 2 senior #postdoc positions in #oxford. If you're into #Cancer #genomics and #epigenetics then get in touch. Please RT 🙏

Postdocs: University of Toronto (@uoft.bsky.social) has a fantastic #postdoc fellowship specifically for Black and Indigenous scholars worth $80K/year x 2 years. For more info see here: www.sgs.utoronto.ca/awards/provo....

Did anyone else got an 403 error trying to reach PubMed?

Here is a growing list of conferences and schools in gene regulation for 2025 generegulation.org/conferences-.... You can order/filter this list by the date, deadline, location. Please reply here to suggest new events* *should be specific to gene regulation

Do you want to explore the #chromatin of an organism? Join our expert instructors at #LowInput25, and learn how to use low input techniques to support your #epigenomics research at the gene & genome-wide level ⏰Application deadline: 11 February 📎bit.ly/40fdETV #ChromatinSky @nmaziak.bsky.social

Hive-mind: what #epigenetics and #cancer #genomics conferences should I not miss this year?

We found that copies of the LINE1 transposon are key “architects” of the nucleolar genome in human embryonic stem cells. This work brings together two facets of Barbara McClintock’s pioneering research: nucleolar organizer regions and transposable elements. www.genesdev.org/cgi/doi/10.1...

Very excited to announce that the single cell/nuc. RNA/ATAC/multi-ome resource from ENCODE4 is now officially public. This includes raw data, processed data, annotations and pseudobulk products. Covers many human & mouse tissues. 1/ www.encodeproject.org/single-cell/...

"these findings suggest L1 is a potent mutagenic force capable of driving genome evolution beyond simple insertions" 🚨

This is a beautiful piece on a sad day.

Not checking nuclear markers like MALAT1 or intronic reads in your scRNA-seq data?🚨 We show their power to flag low-quality cells—even in top public datasets. It’s time to prioritize better QC for cleaner, more reliable genomics research! Read more: bmcgenomics.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.... 1/8

To give researchers a better view of the #cancer #genomics #wgs #wgts and clinical data held by (with patient consent) the Hartwig Medical Foundation we've made overviews of their (immuno)genomic landscapes of cancer types: www.hartwigmedicalfoundation.nl/en/data/vign...

By definition, enhancers can activate from a distance. But with increased distance between enhancer and promoter, the activation drops. To study this systematically, we build a synthetic locus: www.cell.com/molecular-ce... 1/12

Our new preprint is out - please share! We asked: How can we make CRISPR knockouts in vivo more efficient? And set up an assay that enables detection of CRISPR cutting with 100s-1000s of sgRNAs over entire chromosome arms in living animals. Grab a ☕ and let’s dive in. 🧵🧪 1/n #CRISPR #geneediting

Large crowds mobilising today to protest (we could not even fit in 3 different trains) in The Hague. The Dutch government wants to cut 1 billion euros to science and education. This policy will damage the country profoundly. Stop the budget cuts. Protect the future. @woinactie.bsky.social

I just wrote an article (will post when out) describing the pre-vaccine era of Covid-19 for people with cancer. Up to 55% of people with Covid-19 who had blood cancer died from Covid (several studies) - average around 30%. Absolutely staggering loss. We forget so quickly.

So interesting: " Outliers for neoplasia prevalence include the common porpoise (<1.3%), the Rodrigues fruit bat (<1.6%), the black-footed penguin (<0.4%), ferrets (63%), and opossums (35%). " 🤯
