I just began my A Raisin in the Sun unit. I might as well just get ready for a new job now.

I think it could also help a lot in terms of burnout. For example, it could keep someone like me from leaving the field altogether to maybe resetting my brain and being able to come back refreshed.

My take: grading writing takes time. Admin won’t give us more planning time to do so. Also, grading writing is something teachers need to learn. In English we pick that up quick (albeit imperfectly); in other disciplines the focus is on other concepts/skills.

And then it occurred to me that if we don’t trust teachers, we should ask, “what are schools doing to attract AND RETAIN the best and brightest candidates?”

Yup. The district believes that we need to be observed constantly in order to make sure we are implementing “high quality instruction.” Me? I wish someone would finally trust me.

Correct. Every week, at least once, someone comes in and watches me teach. Then fills out a form assessing my “quality of instruction.”
