I think we may have surpassed ourselves with the LBU Library International Women's Day post this year. Go give us a like on instagram! We have some exciting social media plans in the works www.instagram.com/lbusupport/

Get ready to celebrate the 12th Annual #FairUseWeek in 2025! This year the celebration will run from Monday Feb 24th to Friday, February 28th w/ #FairUse games, blogs, events, prizes, and FUN! Stay tuned for more at sites.harvard.edu/fair-use-week/

@littlebutfierce.bsky.social and I are looking at preparing a presentation for the June 2025 @filill.bsky.social event on implementing the new CLA guidance in systematic reviews. We'd love to hear about your experiences and challenges—let us know what you'd like us to cover in the article comments.

Today’s CPD event involved each of us being handed a playing card to assign tables and for a mystery subsequent activity. Place your bets now.

And authors! Make sure you register your books for PLR, so you can claim this income. Full details here: www.bl.uk/plr/

I just came back from one of the most amazing D&D sessions I've ever run in my life. For context, in the last year I've been working as a professional DM, and one of my gigs is running games for kids in a camp setting here in LA. My table has been known as the most chaotic of the bunch.

It’s here. www.vulture.com/article/neil...

At #EARLLTFRL today and we’ve got an afternoon session from @thekindbraveleader.bsky.social on resilience.

Anywho, Monday is Monday and tomorrow is the ALN research event focussing on Rights Retention and REF! However it'll be less of the REF bit for obvious reasons. 🫠 Registration is closed but I have the power of providing a the Teams link! www.academiclibrariesnorth.ac.uk/rights-reten...

not the first to make this observation, but the detailed descriptions of various meals in Lord of the Rings technically make it a recipe book with lots of stories such as what your uncle—whose cursed Ring you're traveling to destroy in the fires of Mount Doom—served at his eleventy-first bday party

This is absolutely amazing. A must read. 🦇🦇 'One morning, Alma arrived to find Jennifer masked and gloved (which I would later learn is to protect the bat!).'

A rarely spotted moment of me mid-script revisions! Really looking forward to presenting today: Open Access Alchemy is one of the work projects I’m proudest of ☺️

Really looking forward to resuming copyright webinars with @cbowiemorrison.bsky.social on Friday 22 November. We have four speakers from Icepops 2024 joining us and you can find out more here: copyrightliteracy.org/2024/11/04/w...

Just created a new Starter Pack for Copyright Library folks go.bsky.app/HNE6FKF

My poor tabletop group didn’t sign up for my turning this session into open access activism as a means of solving the plot and yet that’s exactly what they’re going to get. (Someone mentioned restrictive IP licenses being a plot obstacle. Their fates were sealed in that moment)

Extremely late to the party, but I just found out about #novellavember I’m a huge fan of novellas and love the idea of spotlighting some of my favourites, one for each day of the month (yeah I’ll catch up at the tailend).

This rings true to me. Students generally aren't daft, they know that (for example) submitting an AI-generated assessment is a bad idea! I think younger students are often more cautious about adopting new digital tools than older generations perhaps expect them to be as well.

📣Librarians working in a UK university library?📣 Want to help my research looking at the social backgrounds of UK academic librarians? Having a (maybe) final push for new participants in my questionnaire 👇 qualtrics.ucl.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_... #Skybrarians #LibrarySky #LISResearch

This is a really neat way of them celebrating the user milestone (also wow I forgot how much of an early adopter I was)

My cartoon for Guardian Books’ autumn reading special.

Great to attend #icepops24, the international #copyright literacy conference, today -thought provoking presentations & immensely proud of Liesl Rowe for being one of the conference organisers & #leedsbeckett colleagues Liesl, Thali Bento, Tom Lennox & Anna Gower for all presenting at the event!
