for a long time trans men were the only men i let in my life in any meaningful way. i donβt believe i could have healed from what cis men did to me if not for my trans guy friends. especially my bff. having said that, trans men dont exist to provide women with some counter-example of masculinity.

It's often ideas and philosophies that oppressed peoples express that get watered down, appropriated and plagiarized for people to use as vessels for their own little biases

Thanks everyone for liking my art! Just wanted to give this a boost. I am the sole caretaker of a family of four in the global south. My ass getting kicked by housing instability and trying to recover from a major surgery (debts from it LOL). *anything* helps. I'm alone in this without your help.

This is how you get rainbow fascism as well, but oh well. Finished reading the best Eros and Psyche retelling and it's by C.S. Lewis of all people, lol

This is a form of colonial dogma, It's "their" suffering vs "ours". The line is drawn at sexism, and it essentially forces women of color and other marginalized genders of color to pick a side, prioritize between their two abusers; white women and cis men of all races :p

So many other instances of oppression, symptoms of imperialism are seen as acceptable to show blatantly- while sexism is unspeakable. That sexism is something exceptional, that it cannot happen in the West, this is something only observed in uncivilized brown peoples.

So many "feminist retellings" try to "fix" folklore by eradicating any portrayal of misogyny- they don't Understand the misogyny is there to externalize grief, to be mocked, to be studied, to enlighten, to caution
