Community council heavily criticises council’s plans for Princes Street The New Town and Broughton Community Council (NTBCC) responded to the council consultation on the future of Princes Street with some choice words. The council published its plans to "conserve and revitalise one of Scotland's…

If you see a rocking horse or other incorrectly parked vehicle you can report it to Edinburgh Council. tinyurl.com/Edi2324 This includes on yellow or red lines, in a bus stop, in parking bays, double parking, on footways at a dropped crossing or double parked, on a road along the tram line.

News of the Council Sub-Committee decision on the Leith Low Traffic neighbourhood.

Final Call for the Leith Low Traffic Neighbourhood ahead of the Edinburgh Council Traffic Regulation Orders Committee which meets at 10am Tuesday 18th Feb....

This consultation on the future of Princes Street, Edinburgh closes next Friday 21st Feb :- bit.ly/4jZ9MiW It covers a lot of ground, much positive, but we’re disappointed it doesn’t ask if you think the pavements are wide enough.

Living Streets Edinburgh are calling for safer walking routes between Gorgie and Roseburn, where pedestrians are squeezed onto tiny footways on Roseburn St and Westfield Rd.

Cycle tracks should be bright red, or bright blue or bright green It doesn't matter what colour As long as they're.....a lot brighter than the ones we have a the moment in Edinburgh. (P.S. It gets light late and dark early in the winter and you have very little chance of spotting the cycle tracks)

If you live in, work in or visit the Leith LTN you may want to review the below....

If you are looking for somewhere interesting to walk in Edinburgh maybe try Saughton Gardens....

I hate sitting at the front of the bus. You realise just how crap the pedestrian infrastructure is. Here, we have 2 narrow pavements, which fail to meet the councils "absolute minimum pavement width", whilst we have a 3rd lane for traffic to turn right, which is 1 bus every 20 minutes.

Today, urban mail is delivered to your house by foot from a parked van. Previously, your mail might have been collected from a mail holding box or "pouch" If one of these out of use boxes is blocking your pavement you can ask the Royal Mail to remove the box. Click here - bit.ly/3wa9UVq.

A little greenery, a few bollards, and a simple sign - suddenly, the street belongs to people again. Safe streets for kids don’t need big budgets, just the right priorities #PlayStreet

Do you want to see better facilities for everyday walking and wheeling in your neighbourhood? Would you consider joining your local community council? Community councils are always great advocates for pedestrians! www.edinburgh.gov.uk/ccelections

Living Streets Edinburgh Group Convener, David Hunter said: "The City of Edinburgh Council deserves credit not only for being the first in Scotland to apply the national ban on pavement parking, but also for adopting a "no streets exempt" policy."

Great to hear from Longstone Community Council about the real benefits of the Edinburgh Pavement Parking ban. To report illegal parking in Edinburgh go to www.edinburgh.gov.uk/parking/repo...

The Ban on pavement parking in Edinburgh came into force one year ago on 29th January 2024. If you need to report an illegally parked vehicle to Edinburgh Council you can use this link:- tinyurl.com/EdiPavePark

You helped us raise £45,000 – thank you! 🙏 Our Emergency Appeal needs to raise a further £205,000 to continue our campaigns to make streets safer and more liveable for all. Can you give today? act.livingstreets.org.uk/page/157094/...

We’ve been told that Edinburgh Council plan some small but very welcome improvements to the walking environment in Corstorphine, Portobello and Morningside. Old temporary ‘Spaces for People’ footways will be replaced with proper pavements.

Following Storm Éowyn yesterday, we haven't found any damaged trees on CALTON HILL, though some big ones came down in Regent Gardens and Abbeyhill. We did find a lot of upturned litter bins. We are hoping it will be possible to have more robust containers in the future.

Last call for this, happening on Friday morning. A couple of spaces left. We'll be joined by the council officer who led work on the project as well as a couple of local residents to give their perspectives. Get in touch if you're interested in coming along. #Leith #LTN

When we’re willing to rethink our city streets as more than just spaces to move and store cars, it allows us to truly reimagine our cities as better places for people, for commerce, for building community... and for living. 📍Rembrandtplein, Amsterdam 🇳🇱 🗓️1980- 2022

As Marek says....in our quest for Edinburgh's worst pavement it is not just potholes we have to worry about. Please share photos of any sort of problematic pavements in Edinburgh.

A nomination for Edinburgh's worst pavement - Brunswick Road. Any other offers ?

There is a lot of talk in Edinburgh about potholes in the roads. It's not just the roads that are in a state: many pavements in the city are in an atrocious state too. We would love to see your photos of your worst pavement in Edinburgh.

Great Point below about the damage caused by Pavement Parking. Pavement Parking costs us all more money.

Road signs have been removed from the concrete lampposts on Ashley Terrace as they cannot take the wind loading. Seems the council is well aware that these lampposts are dangerous.

A new organisation has been formalised to encourage the council to make the #Leith low traffic neighbourhood permanent and to take further steps to reduce traffic and air pollution and make the streets more pleasant in Leith. You can sign up here: rd8993.wixsite.com/liveable-leith #LTN

Mapped all the benches in our area. Majority of them in our three community parks. Pretty much none on routes to shops/services which discourages people who need the rest, from staying more active & connected with their community. Ideally should be able to see the next bench from where you are sat.
