To my friends at the IRS, I hope you're safe. As shitty as things have been for the last decade, I've got to think it will get even worse with Musk's baby minions demanding access to IDRS and the like.

Meanwhile in Russia: state TV host Evgeny Popov says that Trump is doing Moscow's job by ripping apart the Western world — whipsawing right through it, the way Russia always wanted to. Popov says that it's truly amazing. youtu.be/JG29upm5HPE

Fuck you, #USGS -- It will ALWAYS be the Gulf of Mexico to the world. Just because people have the RIGHT to ask for a change doesn't mean you have to pander to them! www.aol.com/us-officiall...

Yesterday was fun. I went to the new Seminole Casino in Okeechobee opening at noon. They have a hotel & a four lane bowling alley. An event center was kicking off with Lynyrd Skynyrd. The hotel is expensive! Played blackjack finally & couldn't lose! If it wasn't the hand itself, it was the bonuses.

Tillis personally assured a key witness that if she signed a statement testifying that she believed Pete Hegseth had an alcohol abuse problem and was abusive to his second wife, it would potentially move three votes—including his own. Then he voted yes. www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

Okay, I’m hoping this will gain some traction on Bluesky *inhales* SALEM PUBLIC LIBRARY IN OREGON IS IN DANGER OF CLOSING. This sets a dangerous precedent for state capital libraries!! This is a continuation of the saga from last year, when we were saved at the last second by the then-mayor. (1/2)

JUST IN: Judge MEHTA has barred Stewart Rhodes and other Oath Keepers whose sentences were *commuted* from going into Washinton or the U.S. Capitol without permission from the court.

Check out these peaceful protesters on the day of love!

FYI

Of course Vivek Ramaswamy had to resign from DOGE. He's obviously a DEI hire. As are the following non-white nominees: Marco Rubio, Lori Chavez-DeRemer, Scott Turner, Kash Patel, Tulsi Gabbard, and Alina Habba.

I am so glad I took advantage of the BOGO sale at Publix on Progresso soup considering that the cold fronts just keep a comin'!

I watched Trump's speech. Putting aside that Executive Orders don't override law or the Constitution, I found it threatening and frightening. But what was more scary? How many applauded wildly and stood up during some of the nastier plans.

Finished the second installment in the Interdependency Sequence, "The Consuming Fire" by John Scalzi. Loved it. 4.5 out of 5. I have the third and last installment of the trilogy, "The Last Emperox", ready to start reading tomorrow.

"The Collapsing Empire" by John Scalzi. 4.5 out of 5. Loved it!!

I really hate holidays that fall on Wednesday. It screws up my time awareness so badly!

We moved to Georgia just after Jimmy Carter left as Governor. Having never heard of him before that, naturally I asked locals about how he was as Governor when he began running for President. I still chuckle when I remember the almost universal response of "well, you can't hold that against him".

Looks like I need to visit Staples for a free computer tune up. The damn thing is ignoring me half the time.

The puppet master and his puppet.

Most of the time I find the Goodreads Awards to be unbelievably bad. But I do tend to find possible reads in the Non-fiction selections. Such as "The Lost Tomb" by Douglas Preston, a selection of true stories that served as the basis for many of his mystery thrillers cowritten with Lincoln Child.

How am I supposed to trust that, once in charge, RFK Jr. won't change his mind and ban all vaccines, including polio? You know, just like the Supreme Court nominees claimed that Roe v. Wade was "settled" law -- until they became Supreme Court jurists and overturned it.

I may be in shock. A book convention in Orlando is charging $350 for tickets for October 2025. As of now there is not a single guest listed. I'd love to go, but not until I have an idea of who might be going. Especially with that price. I've gone to some huge cons for less.

Another school shooting? No surprise. Prepare for the avalanche of "thoughts and prayers" from the Assholes in D.C., not all of them Republicans. At least 82 school shooting this year, 56 of them on k-12 school grounds. 38 dead, 115 injured (physically, who knows how many psychologically).

Dental visit was brutal. Not the actual work done, the estimates on what they wanted to do. Even my final choice was, to say the least, more than I had hoped for.

I have 15 books on my Want to Read list. Twelve of them currently published. Libby only has ONE of these books! Not obscure books either.

Just reminded myself why I moved from Campbell's soups to Progresso. I thought their bean and bacon would hit the spot with the chill in the air. Filling it was, but even with some minor doctoring by me there was no taste.

I'm torn about DeSantos possibly getting the nomination for SecDef. On one hand, it will get him the hell out of Florida. On the other hand, he's an idiot Trumper to the nth degree who thinks "woke" is an actual ideology, not just people with common decency. Still slightly better then the drunk.

Well. It IS Fox News, sooooo

If you’re afraid that books might change someone’s thinking, you’re not afraid of books, you’re afraid of thinking.

What has happened in South Korea should be both a lesson and a warning to Donald Trump and his sycophants. With their parliament surrounded by troops, the elected politicians raced to veto the martial law order. Ordinary citizens helped them get past the soldiers, boosting them over barricades.

Do I think Biden should've pardoned his son? No. Do I understand why he did it? Oh, yeah. This wasn't just a case of pardoning his son, it was his way of trying to protect his son from further Republican attacks. I don't believe John Smith or Betty Jones would've been charged. Fined at the most.

Until abortion is legal in every state, lets require men to get a mandatory vasectomy until they are proven emotionally mature, financially responsible and ready to be a father. Wait, what do you mean regulations on men's bodies make you uncomfortable?

I almost went Pre-Law and worked as security for federal agencies. I am prepared to lead the Department of Justice.

Preach!
