OK, but the chorus legit slaps

i think this is basically what has happened a big chunk of the american pundit class

Over the course of my career, @joyannreid.bsky.social has been one of the few to give me and so many other Black voices consistent airtime. In a time in which Black women’s voices are needed now more than ever— This cancellation hurts, but the bounce back will be impeccable. We got you, Joy.

Not getting one's hopes up or assuming you will never get anything good in life doesn't work to prevent you from getting hurt. This is the honesty of experience talking! Delusional people spend far more time happy even if they are in the exact same garbage situation as you.

This is why my papal name (for when I get elected) is Sixtus VI (yes, I'm the wrong gender and not Catholic. But one should always be prepared)

I owe the television part of my career to @joyannreid.bsky.social, as do so many other Black voices y'all never would have heard of if not for her. And *that's* why she's gone. They can treat black folks as interchangeable, but everybody Black knows that Joy was indispensable.

Build up a supportive, close community of fellow writers! This is the best way to discover who to kill and eat so you can gain their precious, valuable writerly powers. You'll be leveling up in no time!

Again for those in the back

I sometimes like to do this to communicate how tall Christopher Lee was. Here he is with Peter Cushing. Peter Cushing was six feet tall.

Hope you're having a great Saturday night - we're getting an early one as tomorrow we begin the end of the world (otherwise known as Das Rheingold). Hard to believe this is the last Ring Cycle the UK will see this year. York Hall, Bethnal Green, 5pm!

I know this is risky, but does anyone have recommendations on how to build out this chipped feature? The right hand side of the arch. It’s under roughly 500 layers of paint. Two part putty?

I am pleased to announce that Whitman-Walker has returned a trans care resource, now under “primary care.” I am told the decision was to update today and that it is a case of bad timing, but also confirmed the reason why it was removed was fear of the Trump admin. Still. I am very happy it’s back.

This turned into a mini-thread on how to sustain practice through burnout. Putting it out there in case it’s useful to anyone

Sometimes an old sketchbook brings you a lil gift

Thread. Stay in the game.

another great example along with Wired and Teen Vogue of how real journalism these days can be a lot braver at outlets where no one is trying to get in good with the White House press secretary they’re out here with us, reporting on what’s happening to us all, instead of trying to get inside access

I have so much trouble making actors (doing Shakespeare) believe that "eat" was once a common past tense of "eat", which would be stranger to me were we not in a region where it's still colloquially common in some situations.

Not just the highly educated. Welsh miners formed study groups to read Austen and Dickens. Scottish shepherds built lending libraries. Watchmakers & cabinetmakers taught themselves Greek and Latin. The loss of working-class autodidact culture is one of history's great tragedies.

The name’s QINLIANFF. ACCYOD QINLIANFF, British suit, British spy suit two piece, 100% MI6 her majesty’s secret service MACHINE WASHABLE, separates, men’s suit tailor fit two piece classic wedding business sui

This is the most dazzlingly written piece of criticism, and I’m not just saying that because Cheney very shrewdly reads Straight Acting alongside Marjorie Garber’s Shakespeare in Bloomsbury: read to the end for a powerful articulation of the consolations of literature in terrible times.

Behind every great man is me rolling my eyes and doing the sarcastic jerkoff motion.
