I find peace, comfort, and sanity in making quilts, reading books, being in nature, drinking coffee, watching birds, snuggling cats, and cake. I do my best to be kind, but I don't put up with people who are awful. I drive a Lizardmobile. (She/her)

I have saved thousands because of repair videos! And kept usable appliances out of landfills for years more service!

I so understand that feeling of stress and anxiety! I have four senior cats, ages 14-17. Wishing your sweetie feels herself again soon!

Great story! Thanks to all who helped the bird!

I'll have to try it again to be absolutely sure. Data is (are) king!

Quackie (Joyner-Kersee)? Katie Leduckie? Megan Quackinoe? Billie (Jean King)? <-- no need for a pun with that one because "bill"ie is already a duck pun.

I definitely wanted a hot meal. Nothing makes me feel woeful like not being able to eat something decent for dinner. We could have powered the electric burner and heated something, but...nah.

For me, it was just happenstance. I was cold, so I decided to take a bath. Then the wind really picked up and gusted. You might consider whether a generator or a battery backup system is better for you. Both have pros and cons. (Both are pricey, alas.)

Are you still in your house? Do you have power?
comment in response to post
We hooked it up and were able to power a few circuits to run our well and septic pumps, the fridge, and lighting in the family room so we could read. (Then we got lazy and drove out to find a restaurant with power for dinner -- so we are NOT pioneers.)

Wow! Yes, the wind here was alarming. I was in the bathtub when our power went out, lol! On the plus side, we had real-world conditions to test the battery backup emergency power system that my husband built this year. (He's a retired electrical engineer.) It worked!

Sigh. Yet again, Gen X is forgotten. That's OK. I'll just make some mac and cheese from a box and watch TV alone.</self-indulgent drama>

Goodness! You're a pioneer. We had an outage last night in Virginia, but were fortunate that it was repaired within a few hours. I hope you get power back soon.

I didn't either! I'm not even sure if dogs are allowed on the Metro, lol.

You deserve all of those things. A TV show may not be what you need, but if it would help, there is a lovely one I watched on Netflix a while back. It's called The Makanai. The vibe is just lovely, and the cooking is inspirational too.

Good for you for expecting to be treated well. <3

It feels weird and wrong, doesn't it?

Do you have a bluebird nestbox? They can start scouting nesting spots as early as February (at least where I am they can - northern VA).

It's on my bed and I sleep under it every night! My cat threw up on it last week and I put it through the washer and dryer. I feel strongly about making my quilts to be used and loved. (Someday I may make some smaller art quilts, but I'm not there yet.) :)

Thank you! It was made with a jelly roll fabric collection, so while I chose the collection, I didn't assemble it fabric-by-fabric. It did take some planning to arrange them the way I wanted, though. :)
