It’s that simple. Now can someone make one about religion?

I have the best nurses when I’m sick (except they won’t move and have relegated me to a tiny corner of this king-size bed)!

Want to raise compassionate, humans who transcend hatred and prejudice? Read TO THE OTHER SIDE, by Erika Meza, with your kids. With simple, accessible language and interpretive illustrations, this #picturebook provides opportunity for open-ended discussion about concepts of immigration & fairness.

Looking for #picturebooks that provide windows into other cultures and identities? Or maybe mirrors for your own? Here’s a list to start with. My favorites: A Plate of Hope (so sensory!), Aloha Everything (the most beautiful illustrations!), Noodles on a Bicycle (fascinating!). List in comments!

Please consider taking action to stop proposed cuts to NY library aid! Public libraries need our support! oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/messages/edi...

Looking for a #picturebook that explores an advanced or seemingly adult topic in a perfectly accessible way? LUDWIG AND THE RHINOCEROS by Noemi Schneider demonstrates philosophical thought through a fun fictional story, and explains philosophy further with well-connected backmatter. #kidlit

Super psyched for this latest #picturebook #library haul, which is only a small portion of the 50 books I put on hold, which set a record for my local library (and apparently reached a limit they were previously unaware of - which I successfully had them override)! ALA winners + a CP surprise!

Because the OP (KweenWerk on IG) isn’t yet on Bsky, I’m amplifying their post about a free series of community social justice conversations. I am not affiliated, but it seems important to me. www.ecoinclusive.org/community-so...

Sometimes my kids ask, what do you do all day? I dream. I dream of writing 📚 inspiring readers of all ages to stand up to bullies with diverse characters listening with open 👂s & open ❤️s solving problems together, making 🎶 together. Sometimes people ask, how can you keep doing it, now? I dream.

I can't help but feel a buzz of excitement when I enter an awesome #kidlit contest! Who's with me?

Congratulations to all the talented creators who won ALA awards! I can’t wait to take all these books out of the library: www.ala.org/news/2025/01...

So saddened to hear that the current administration considers book bans to be a hoax. It’s feeling eerily like we’re living in Fahrenheit 451. Please—request banned books at libraries! Order them! Donate them! www.schoollibraryjournal.com/story/Depart...

Hello Writing Community! We are delighted to announce our First Official Bluesky *** #MSWL Day *** February 12, 2025. 🎉🎉🎉 Agents + editors can post what they ✨wish✨ they had in their inboxes; writers can find their next best fit for querying. Learn more here: manuscriptwishlist.com/the-next-off...

I love how Todd Boss took a story that could be very much plot-driven, focusing on the concert itself, and wrote it in a character-driven way. Simple and elegant, child-centered and fun!

y'all should also pay attention to where these open—while barnes & noble can fill in the gaps where indie bookstores are not, and we need them in those areas, more than a few open in competition with indies. those indies (who do more to support new & marginalized voices than b&n) will need support.

My 💙 goes out to everyone in LA right now. My sister tells me the Hollywood Hills are on fire (she is evacuating). It’s like the earth is trying to tell us something.

So proud to accept a @12x12Challenge Silver Scholarship for the 2nd year in a row! It IS a happy New Year!!! 💖🙏🏻🎉 Keep trying and trying, #kidlit #writers!!!

These laws are outright fascist. Support your #libraries and vote in local elections. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/24/u...

#kidlit #writers, if you’re like me, you’re thinking ahead about what learning opportunities you can take in the new year to elevate your writing. Check out @ebonylynnmudd.bsky.social’s PB Retreat. Her guidance always lifts my writing to the next level! www.thepbretreat.com/courses/comm...

I first learned about this #pb I KNOW HOW TO DRAW AN OWL in #editor Elizabeth Law’s webinar on #writing with emotion. Now that I’ve had the chance to read it, I see what she was talking about. Such beauty! Readers’ hearts will grow like the grinch’s after reading this #picturebook #kidlit

#dog lovers, want a good 😭? This is the #picturebook for you. I don’t just love it for the brilliant 1st-person dog POV with masterful onomatopoeia/invented language, but for its breathtakingly beautiful portrayal of end-of-life & our enduring connection with our beloved pets. THE LONGEST LETSGOBOY

I just found a great way to support a local bookstore! If you read #audiobooks, you can purchase them here: libro.fm/Byrdsbooks directly from an amazing little bookshop in Bethel, CT, Byrd's Books! Consider supporting this indie #bookseller for #audiobook holiday gifts or your own #reading

"Why are picture books texts so hard to sell?" Short answer: THEY'RE NOT! This is one of the biggest misconceptions about children's publishing. After saying this for the twelfth millionth time this week, I wrote a looong post about it: writingcommunity.ca/kidlit-confu... #kidlit #picturebook #pb

Do you ever catch yourself, almost from a bird’s eye view, and realize how lucky you are, in that moment? With nowhere to go but up, forward, further - I’m feeling blessed to be able to live my passion, listening to my 🎶, cozily reading exceptional #picturebooks as my own words take form. #kidlit

Danielle Sharkan’s SHARING SHALOM is a beautiful #pb for all with themes of empathy, inclusivity, unity & interconnectedness. A mirror for Jewish children to see themselves, a window for non-Jewish kids to normalize Jewish people, with the message: Our differences are something to be celebrated!

I’m so excited to read all the #picturebooks on this list! Thanks Delano!
