So, last night during the DnD campaign my lovely elf ranger was mortally wounded. We’re gaming with complete noobs and their reaction to my character dying was so pure? I felt so bad for them. There was trembling chins and wibbles. Bless their innocence.

I’ve read a dark gothic fanfic on AO3 about my favourite cdrama & light novel, Guardian (by Priest) and honestly I sincerely hope the ff author realises how amazing they are.

Have successfully navigated Ikea at 9 this morning. No candles were bought. 💪 I do however have a new billy bookcase & storage boxes. Let the craft room rejuvenation continue. 💃💃

We were quiet in the shop just before my lunch break so I read the opening lines from Emily Wilson’s Iliad translation out loud, orator style like a nerd. Both my colleague & were all hibby-shivery afterwards. 🤓 It’s just SO DAMN good.

Customer just came in asking me what I think about getting Ai to write a ya book for him?! Initially I thought he was kidding. He was in before & we talked about writing. But then he went to explain how he needed Ai to give him ideas that he can then further refine…by using Ai. I got palpitations.

Hi chaps! Any recs for Florence - places to eat / visit. Obvs the Uffizi is a given. TYIA.

Woman comes in: do you have any books on Korea? Me: sure & proceed to show her all the books we have (fiction, non-fic including folklore). Her: no, that’s not what I want. Then she spends 20 mins taking photos of books before buggering off without buying anything. My smile a pained rictus.

The craft room tidying is going a pace. I just tried to move & nearly cried because my back hurts so much. 💪

I’m tidying my craft area and it is genuinely wild to me how much utter rubbish I’ve held onto over the six years we’ve been in the new flat. I’m about to tackle my 200 journals. 🫠 Pray for my sanity.

It is time! AC: Mirage 🥰

Have treated myself to AC: Mirage. 🥷One of my decisions for 2025 is to game more. I even bought gaming journaling ephemera. 😂 Oh, that reminds me. New gaming headphones too. 🎧

Getting ready for the last DND game of 2024. I’ve made a huge pot of lush butternut & sweet potato soup and we’ve got 3!!! French baguettes. Yum. It should feed six of us as we head into Goblin Territory 💪🧝‍♂️🏹⚔️ and try to not get unalived.

My book treasures I got for Christmas. I’m already around 60 pages into EMPEROR OF THE SEAS and I’m obsessed. Netflix really shanked us. We could’ve had Marco Polo returning to Venice in his 40’s leading a flotilla of Mongol ships laden with treasure. Anyway. My obsession continues.

We watched RED ONE earlier today & thoroughly enjoyed it. Mostly because Santa & Cal addressed the reindeer (huge dire sized reindeer oh my god) as ‘ladies’ which is ACCURATE. So it immediately stole my heart. Also Krampus was so sexy? Monsterlovers will be swooning. (It’s me, I’m a monster lover).

I’m DELIGHTED that I’ve tracked down the French 2024 movie of The Count of Monte Cristo. It’s one of my fave Dumas novels. Ugh. Maybe I need a new edition…

Oh! Happy Krampusnacht, friends!

I really struggled with reading Slow Horses. I just couldn’t get into it although I know it’s 100% my jam. So, I’m going to listen to it on audio instead.

Yarnbombing!! But my small town is also looking very pretty. ⬇️

When I do my weekly ironing I put on a show to watch. TRACKER on Disney+ is my go-to each new season. The mc is likeable & the storylines aren’t very convoluted. My fave thing? His brother in the show is played by Jensen Ackles and I love it because there are these tiny SPN references.
