I love this vineyard. The pruning has been done, ready for the coming season. Rows of vines have been inter-cropped with field beans as nitrogen fixers and fodder. In the distance is Domaine de Cébène, where Brigitte Chevalier produces elegant wines on her north-facing slopes. Faugères, Languedoc.

Perhaps I didn’t wait long enough after the ice melted before trying to clear weed from the pond. I can’t wait any longer though because the pond is full of frogs and toads desperate to get into full amplexus. I can tell you that the water’s bloody freezing, but I doubt that will dent their ardour.
