Totally! Nobody hates Alden more than a local reporter who works for Alden. The reason people know how much Alden sucks is bc of the reporters who make noise so we can keep doing our jobs. Gotta support local news however you can!

Yeah! I don’t work for free. In the way we ask people to support local art and local biz, we gotta support local news so we can keep reporters doing their thing. checkout.denverpost.com you can get a digital subscription for $1 here!

@napaaqtuk.bsky.social This story I wrote spells out how one order calls for creating a list of nonprofits, companies, and universities that continue DEIA activities after they certify they do not, opening them up to penalties+civil lawsuits. This is scaring folks. www.statnews.com/2025/01/30/t...

Empty playground in the back of the Cedar Run apt complex where ICE raided this morning. The complex is pretty quiet at the moment, hours after armed federal agents woke residents up around 6 am

Both Villa and Iron Shield said the federal agents were armed with large guns, banging on doors and asking questions. They said they began to hear activists shout not to open doors or answer questions.

“I was shocked” Villa said. She had just recently got the Ring camera as talks of ICE raids increased. She said her apt complex has been plagued with roaches and poor living conditions but that they are neighbors who look out for one another. “We are not in nobody’s business” she said.

Crystal Villa, 41, said ICE woke her up around 6 am. She showed me Ring footage in which an agent asked if she had drugs, if she was with anyone and if she spoke English. She said the neighbors mobilized & began texting each other not to open their doors. She was born and raised in CO, she said.

Robert Iron Shield, a Native American from Standing Rock Sioux tribe, was awoken around 6 am by loud banging on the door from federal agents. He presented his ID, passport and tribal documents and began live-streaming. “We’re falling to the way of Nazi Germany” he said of the raids.

Nate Kassa with the East Colfax Community Collective said he got the call around 6 am that ICE raids were happening and jumped into action. Kassa said he got here while people were being detained and was trying to inform residents of their rights. “It’s infuriating” he said.

Federal agents have masks over their faces. Activists are shouting to the apartment complex not to sign anything w/o an attorney present in English & Spanish. Activists imploring ICE agents to listen to the words of Jesus and “find it in their soul” to treat people with dignity and kindness.
