PBS News wants to hear from those who have been affected by COVID. The more information they have on what COVID has done and is still doing to people, the better. pbsnewshour.formstack.com/forms/covid

Ukraine’s present. Canada’s future.

Just reflecting on the realisation that my medical education taught me much more about Munchausen’s, which I have rarely if ever seen, than ME/CFS, which I now see near daily.

“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy-- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.” F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby (1925)

A lesson we all learned in grade school. Don’t let bullies bully you. #TeamCanada ❤️🇨🇦

This article is spot on! I see Ford as a Trump lite figure. Corrupt, mendacious, and dismissive of the needs of the people of Ontario. He is trying to extract as much wealth from the public sector as possible and it is okay if we suffer. He lacks empathy. Plus a horrible money manager! #DougFordLies

Reminder: Check polling/projections in your riding for provincial election. In my riding, Liberals are at 20% higher than NDP, so best chance to beat Cons. EVERYONE needs to suck it up and vote strategically. 338canada.com/ontario/

Still more deadly than flu or RSV jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

Repeat after me: WE ARE STILL LIVING IN THE SARS2 PANDEMIC. “During the pandemic” implies it’s over. We know you want it to be over, but that’s not living in reality. Please live in reality. Otherwise, you’re just delusional. Look it up. It’s a disorder. 👇

If governments and organisations attended to indoor air quality, we’d be less reliant on masks to prevent transmission of respiratory infections.

Because COVID isn't seasonal and there was a surge in summer/fall. Recent/repeated infection/coinfection with COVID could make winter flu more severe. Also, the next major SARS-CoV-2 variant hasn't arrived yet (still Pirola variant soup).

If you want further proof that American journalism is dead, the Hollywood Reporter showed more moral clarity in their coverage of Elon Musk’s Nazi salute than the Washington Post, NY Times, LA Times, WSJ, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS or NBC. Cowards all. bit.ly/4gdjnQe

Don’t underestimate the impact you’re making when you choose to wear a mask. You’re protecting your health & the health of your community. You’re helping ease the burden on our healthcare system. You’re standing in solidarity with disabled people & telling the government that no one is expendable

🧠 Review of 31 studies on brain executive function deficits in people with Long COVID shows cognitive impairments, espec in working memory, task-switching, and inhibitory control. Deficits are linked to brain changes in the frontal and cerebellar regions. buff.ly/4jrr8Vu #medsky #neurosky 😷🛟

Long COVID patients experience executive function impairments impacting tasks like shifting, inhibition, and working memory, affecting daily activities. #PITT_ID25

Saito et al found Galactin-9 driven depletion of MAIT Cells in #LongCovid patients with CFS. Notably, when Gal-9 binds to Fibronectin, its ability to bind to T cells is amplified - it lasts longer. A Check-point Inhibitor targeting Gal-9 might t/f be a Tx route. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Nazis: "that's a nazi salute" Historians: "that's a nazi salute" Average person: "that's a nazi salute" The Media: "Elon Musk makes odd gesture throwing his heart to the crowd."

Here’s why more people masking makes it safer for all. Stop the spread. Stop being a vector for disease to loved ones & community. Why Masks Work BETTER Than You'd Think Video & interactive site. youtu.be/Y47t9qLc9I4 aatishb.com/maskmath/

Had a great conversation with my old fiend and historian @rashedchy.bsky.social about the Covid pandemic, what could have been done better, how to prevent future pandemics, and the mission and purpose of the Canadian Covid Society. Enjoy!

“I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
