Yesterday’s laser cut ferns have now been enhanced with a little extra painting which blends them into the landscape better. The towpath is really coming along. The canal won’t be that toxic looking - I was just getting rid of excess paint 😂

As @dibsyardshuntinglayout says, at the end of a modelling session, there’s nothing like a good stand at stare, before realising you’ve wasted 10 minutes you could have been closer to going to bed….

One of my absolute favourite building types is stone, and this was a lot of fun to make - all the stonework hand carved and painted. Not many production photos taken with this one. In retrospect, the photography is a bit let down by the car which I hadn’t weathered at this point.

Just a little over 5 years since I posted a picture of this little demo model I made and asked if anyone would be interested in their own home in miniature. I haven’t stopped building since - from a little thatched cottage to a massive dolls house to a tiny shed…

A slight tangent from my usual pictures of recreations of real homes in miniature- this was a fun project for Halloween , making a spooky cottage in a slightly bigger scale (the how to video is on my YouTube channel)

Morning folks. These pictures show the assembly of the ornamental dormer windows on top of the main house before they were added to the facia and then installed. Laser cut from 2mm mdf and 0.6mm laser board they were built up in layers before adding the window frames behind.

I also light my models, if asked (and this gives an opportunity to see Chester the cat in the bedroom…)

It was a bit of a murky day when I took the ‘glamour shots’ for this one, but the moody skies give the model a good context. Coming down low to be on eye level with the scale and matching the tree line, sells the scene…

Another example of how coming down to an ‘eye level’ view with the camera and shooting outside with sunlight, further enhances the illusion of reality… I approached this model build with excitement and trepidation - so much detail and only photos to go off…

On the workbench vs the finished model…

Following the theme of yesterday’s post, here’s a few pictures of when I took my giant inflatable hand and tweezers to France to pose next to this huge model of a small chateau…

Original paintings for sale

The best compliment I can receive with my work is ‘I thought that was real’ but I do wonder sometimes, despite my user and business name, if people scroll on by thinking ‘meh, it’s just a photo of a house’? So now and again, I throw in a photo with my hand in 😂 Anyway ...

We’ve got movement at Eastwood…

☺️☺️☺️

Strangely, my camera roll is full of photos of model houses and model railway work… sharing this photo of the recent build waiting to be collected…

I love the way the sunlight illuminates the landscape here…
