I used to record sound for motion pictures. I also used to be tall & slim. Union and proud since 1984. Retired as of January 1, 2023.

I think I did 4 films with his and Judith’s production company. He helped shape the America we grew up in as an architect of LBJ’s Great Society. Best quote from his obit: “You learn certain things: That you’re happier if you’re trying to report the truth than if you’re trying to conceal it.”

In close to 40 years of documentary production, my fondest memory is Bill introducing the crew to one of our interview subjects as “my associates.” He was a lovely guy, and kind.

You can sign up for seats along the parade route online as well and just not show up. I have, but will be attending a No Kings event instead.

The entire population of the country is 5.52 million. Total number of Teslas sold there in May was around 2,600 vehicles, mostly of the revamped model y. Sales will reach the saturation point soon, even when taking into account the country’s electric vehicle mandate.

Good to know. Not surprising since it’s flinging paint at whatever is getting finished. Tool envy now under control. Best part of airless is that the paint dries so quickly that it’s easier to get a smooth finish. Seems like the battery version nullifies that advantage.

I am jealous of the battery powered airless sprayer. My ancient ac powered one just won’t die.

My experience as well. He’s also a nice guy.

Start? That has been happening since well before the 2024 election.

A little heard favorite of mine is the Jeff Lynne produced 1993 release “Something Peculiar” by Julianna Raye. Maybe the best ELO album not by ELO.

The Capitol Police doing their job. They are responsible for the security of the LOC campus. The DOGE terrorists aren’t credentialed for entry into the nonpublic areas of the buildings.

Van Hollen has always been good at constituent service. Defending Marylanders’ rights, and by extension the rights of all Americans, is just a part of constituent service.

It’s called constituent service. One of the things we send people to Washington to do for us. Chris Van Hollen is really good at it, I know because he’s one of my senators.

Flying Generals to and from the Pentagon, next door to DCA, is what they mostly do.

Belvoir is 14 miles downstream from National, on the Virginia side of the river. Bolling AFB, also called Joint Base Anacostia, is in SW DC, across the river from the airport. It’s the home base for Marine Helicopter Squadron One which flies the Presidential helicopters.

National is adjacent to the Pentagon. Almost quicker to walk between them than drive.

Now, Senator Kim. I rooted for him to win the Senate seat once he announced his candidacy. Service over politics.

One last thought: Martin’s Tavern in Georgetown (maybe Wisconsin & N St. NW or right nearby). If you’re in the mood for a little Camelot vibe, it’s where JFK reputedly proposed to another famous Jackie. Good food and atmosphere.

The Old Ebbitt Grill is across the street from the Treasury Department on 15th St, NW around the corner from the White House and is always good for a crab cake, a burger or chili. Iron Gate, at 1734 N ST NW is a superb Mediterranean restaurant. It’s also got a really lovely atmosphere.

If you’re interested in touristy places, the National Museum of the American Indian is pretty awesome and also has a fantastic restaurant, the Mitsitam Cafe. It’s at 4th and Independence SW and the cafe is open from 11 AM to 4 PM.

Rather than go through this with my 2016 Dodge with 100k miles, I went with one of those add-on CarPlay screens. It would have run a fraction more than the value of the car to do right & I had a vision problem that made using the phone impractical for nav. Works OK-ish, affordable & I can see maps!

I’m about a year older. I remember the pool shutdowns & an elementary school classmate contracted polio when her family was abroad while her father was posted overseas. More than one of my contemporaries suffered serious side effects from the measles, mumps & chicken pox. Vaccinations save lives.

I haven’t listened yet but former Homicide assistant camera Susan Ingram is coproducing a podcast featuring the people behind the show. I was fortunate to do some days dayplaying on the show and many of the same folks from the core crew also worked on ‘The Wire.’ podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/h...

His father - the one he cast a ballot for President in 2020 - represented Prince Georges County. Better to focus on Hogan’s poor performance as Governor. The union busting, anti-worker activity, the anti-education steps he took, the public policy failures.

As someone who was threatened by a voter for assisting an indigenous American who speaks only Spanish while serving as an election judge in 2022, I have no sympathy for Hur. Threats of violence don’t really make what ends up being a sub-minimum wage stipend that attractive. Civic duty has limits.
